Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2016, part 11

Posted by Robin on 5 September 2016 14 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. Today's post includes limited edition solid perfume compacts from Estée Lauder, plus collector bottles from Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Guerlain.

Estee Lauder Owl and Turtle solid compacts

From Estée Lauder, two compacts created by luxury jewelry designer Monica Rich Kosann. At left, the Beautiful Wise Owl, and at right, the Pleasures Turtle Endurance (and see more here). £300 each at Harrods in the UK.

Estée Lauder 2016 Harrods Christmas Bear

Also from Estée Lauder, the 2016 Harrods Christmas Bear, with Beautiful solid perfume. £195.

Gucci Guilty Platinum editions

From Gucci, the Gucci Guilty Platinum editions, in 50 and 75 ml for her, 90 ml for him. (via elle.my)

Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Sparkle Clash Edition

From Yves Saint Laurent, the Mon Paris Sparkle Clash Edition, "layered with over 100 Swarovski crystals." $165 at Bloomingdales.

Guerlain Habit Rouge Dress Code 2016

From Guerlain, a new limited edition version of 2015's limited edition Habit Rouge Dress Code. €104 for 100 ml at Guerlain.

Holiday-themed stuff already???? It seemed like Back-to-School sales started in July and it’s now just the beginning of September and all the stores have their Halloween stuff which is still two months away!

The Habit Rouge Dress Code juice is so good…and the bottle just makes me want to get another one. And the EL compacts are so adorable but too pricey – I recall them being in the $200-$350 range and now it’s over $500!

Agree! Not ready for Christmas yet.

EL seems to do a mix every year of some lower priced compacts and some “designer” compacts. Does seem like this year, I haven’t seen any reasonably priced ones — but it’s early yet, maybe they are still to come (?)

Once Mother’s Day and Father’s Day pass, it’s Christmas mode in the fragrance world. Just like fashions, we’re one season ahead. Everything Christmas comes in end of August and through out September. The Christmas shop for one of the department stores in Toronto is already in the process of being built for 3 weeks now. Christmas toys are all in. Transitional clothes and shoes are in.

I’ve had people buying for Christmas from me since mid June, and I’m not joking. Some people are full fledged Christmas shopping already. The best selection for anything Christmas is end of September usually. If you see something and say, I’ll think about it, decide to buy it and you come back, but it’s sold out…keep thinking about it! Every year, starting mid November, people complain, “well you had this and this!”. Key word “had”. If you want it, know it’s a good deal, buy it! No reason the sales associates should get the backlash for it.

      End of rant. Whew, sorry.

You make a good point although mid-June to me is more like shopping for half-Christmas and not THE Christmas…plus, it would be starting to get hot then and not conducive to Christmas shopping.

You’d think, but they’re serious. I have around 500 people who are loyal to me. Whenever I have a special event, and I mean SPECIAL, I call my vip’s. If you have a beauty advisor that you’re loyal to, I guarantee you that you’ll get extra special treatment for gifts, samples, private events. I’m not selling you guys on anything, just opening your eyes to the beauty industry. The beauty industry is all about networking; you make a connection with someone and stay loyal to them, they’ll treat you to extra stuff people never tend to see. Even for Christmas time, if you tell them hold something for me if you have a few left, they’ll do it for you. Rather than having an aneurism and stressing as to why you never smelled it or got it, you get special treatment.

Most of the time, they buy for Christmas gifts when we have things on sale or extra extra gifts for VIP events. Even when it’s in June, July, August, they reserve it for Christmas. Plus, that way they don’t feel it in their pocketbooks

The Habit Rouge is very chic and the bear is cute but I suspect I’d prefer it without the logo on it! All pretty expensive though but fun to know about even if not to buy.

Plus, the year (on the bear) — which will make it seem old in 2017. Although I suppose someone, somewhere, is getting one every year like a Christmas plate collection or something.

My mom once passed along one of the EL solid perfume compacts to me to sell on eBay for whatever I could get for it. She had received it as a gift from a business associate and had no interest in it. It fetched more than $200 on eBay, and the buyer implored me to let her know if I came upon any similar items, because she was building a collection! Unfortunately for her and for my pocketbook, I have not come upon any further such items. 🙂

I lay the blame strictly at the feet of Harrods.

Oh, I am ready for Christmas! If it could be celebrated year – round, I would be one happy creature. I have a new beau who I have been getting to know better since July. I just found out today that he loves Christmas just as much as I do! Score!
Never been a fan of the solid fragrances and keepsakes from EL, but I am a huge fan of their perfume and makeup. I live for their holiday makeup gift sets. Can’t wait to see what they have planned for this season!
