Les Classiques de L’Occitane ~ reissued fragrances

Posted by Robin on 29 August 2016 11 Comments

Les Classiques de L'Occitane

L’Occitane has launched Les Classiques de L'Occitane, a new collection of reissued fragrances. The trio includes Ambre, Eau des 4 Voleurs and Eau d'Iparie.

Throughout 40 years of heritage, L’OCCITANE has gathered the most beautiful scents from all over Provence to create many fragrances, each one made with a unique touch. With the collection Les Classiques de L’Occitane, the brand is going back to its roots, resurrecting its iconic scents from the past.

Ambre ~ Unisex, originally launched in 2001. "When the sun slowly declines on the shores of the Mediterranean, rock roses fill the air with their delicate amber and balsamic scent. These shrubs release a resin with an intense amber odor, which provides the power and sensuality to fragrances they compose, and are distilled by perfumers in Grasse. Emanation of earth heated by the sun, the warm scent enveloping cists mesmerizes with its oriental notes, amber and woody. [...] This unisex fragrance opens with a fresh scent but quickly reveals a warm and sensual woody note. The combination of bergamot and freesia leaves a surprisingly fresh scent in your minds but evolves into a warm work dominated by the silky scent of labadum and its amber notes. Bold and captivating, with hints of musk and patchouli, this fragrance ends on a slightly sweet finale with a hint of vanilla."

Eau des 4 Voleurs ~ Feminine, originally launched in 1991. "In Provence, a legend, during the great plague of 1630 in Occitan, four robbers robbed abandoned houses stealing everything, without fear of infection. But they played with the devil for too long, and one day were caught red-handed. The judges promised them leniency if they revealed the secret of their immunity – so they told of their elixir. Supposedly invented by four brilliant and unscrupulous herbalists, the formula of this elixir was recorded in the Codex of the French Pharmacopoeia.Inspired by this legend, L'Occitane has created this fragrance of dazzling freshness of herbs and spices to flourish on a subtly wooded Scots dominant. [...] The unprecedented freshness of this fragrance reveals a combination of sparkling and aromatic scent along with notes of patchouli. In the head, the lightness and the insolence of fresh notes persists of petit grain and bergamot, in the heart, Cloves, oregano and lavender give way to a regressive agreement of spices and dried herbs in the sun. The fragrance ends with round notes of warm patchouli and white wood."

Eau d'Iparie ~ Unisex, originally launched in 2002. "Like a tale from One Thousand and One Nights. Iparie is a mirage, a conjured-up oasis town surrounded by the sea, in the middle of the desert… On a stop-off along the spice route, caravans loaded with precious ingredients wait in the shade of a caravanserai courtyard. Amidst all the hustle and bustle, no-one notices that frankincense and myrrh have escaped together. They slip into the hot evening air, cling briefly to the white sand walls, nestle into the folds of luxurious fabrics, revel in a bouquet of rose, pink pepper and peony, then settle in the fragrant water of a fountain draped in moss. Wherever they linger, the frankincense and myrrh of Iparie leave hints of a sensual love. [...] Barely has it touched the skin than it's clear that Eau d'Iparie is a fragrance with staying power – its woody notes accompanied by a dash of rose, peony and pink pepper. Its more masculine, oldfashioned facet harmonizes perfectly with the earthy opulence of patchouli and myrrh. This superb oriental has both passion and restraint, a velvety feel and an almost-gourmand quality, as myrrh, musk and frankincense come to rest on a bed of moss."

Les Classiques de L'Occitane Ambre, Eau des 4 Voleurs and Eau d'Iparie are $68 each for 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

I still miss my bottle of Vanille from the early 2000s. Why, oh why, did I swap it away?!

If you have a Anthropologie near you, swallow your pride and venture inside. They sell Moulinard’s line of single note scents, and they have the Vanille, which may make you happy

Eau des 4 Voleurs sounds perfect: aromatic spices, woods, and lavender married in Provence tradition. Yes, please!
