A teeny bit of cognac, a teeny bit of leather, a teeny bit of body odor

Posted by Robin on 27 August 2016 14 Comments

I knew that I wanted a teeny bit of cognac, a teeny bit of leather, a teeny bit of body odor. We started working on this back when Lovely came out and nobody was ready for it. They were like, ‘genderless doesn’t work, there’s nothing like that on the market’—and then I watched it happen. So I started working on [Stash] with the people that I worked on with Lovely and they sorted it out. I really wanted it to smell personal, that it could be adaptable, which is a very hard thing for fragrance. Fragrance tends to be super surface-y and it can wear you… and then someone hugs you and then you smell like them.

“Fragrance tends to be super surface-y and it can wear you… and then someone hugs you and then you smell like them.”

In a nutshell, that’s how i know i click with a certain scent or not. Love this phrasing 🙂

Definitely curious about Stash. Not digging the name, but what is in a name?

I don’t mind the name, although I wonder why she chose it.

You’ve nailed why i am not into it, doesn’t connect with a back story.
My free association thoughts strart whirling: mustashe? Drug stash? And back to mustache? (Limited stash options in my mind grapes, ha)

Just silliness! I’ll definitely smell it when i can 🙂

Hi there. The backstory of the name is told in a video interview on sjpbeauty.com. I reviewed everything on the Stash pages of that site and fell in love.

I did buy the perfume at Ulta and love it! 🙂

I am leery of the body odor part but I am curious enough to want to smell it when I see it.

Don’t worry at all. I am terrified of body odor (you could chase me out of a room with one spray of eau d’hermes). It smells personal but it doesn’t smell like cumin or sweat.

I have high hopes for this one. I love how much she loves fragrance herself. This is exactly the kind of celebrity who should be bringing out scents.

    Sarah……………
“”””Genderless”””” CKOne was a decade before Lovely. And it wasn’t the first.
And on another note, the Los Angeles Times stated that Stash was SJP’s second scent. Covet? Not to mention flankers. And SJP NYC.
And people wonder why I question everyone’s credibility.
    LOL
And Donatella I confess I’m addicted.
The Ulta that is 4 miles from my house, that I never set foot in, I visited. And tested Stash. And purchased.
Vetiver, pepper, and a Wood note from something else I can’t quite ascertain yet. I’m enjoying it. 😉

        LOL. True. 😉
But I think you may be one of her favorites also.
You are no slouch in the perfume and generosity departments, hajusuuri. 😀

I’m really looking forward to this, because I loved the passages in Chandler Burr’s book where SJP talked about her “dirty” dreamscent. I imagine “Stash” refers to the massive hoard of Bonne Belle Skin Musk she bought after the company tipped her off about an impending formula change. I love the thought of an entire closet of her house filled with the “ingredients” of her personal blend. So glad we’ll finally be able to try it.
