Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles (& some other stuff) 2016, part 9

Posted by Robin on 14 August 2016 17 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. Today's post includes collector bottles from Tom Ford, Sisley, Yves Saint Laurent and Thierry Mugler; plus a new concentration of Versace Eros Femme.

Tom Ford Black Orchid Lalique

From Tom Ford, a limited edition of Black Orchid, with the bottle by Lalique (there was a version of this when Black Orchid first launched in 2006, and perhaps they are identical). $990 for (15 ml?) Parfum, available now for pre-order at Tom Ford.

Sisley Eau de Soir 2016

The 2016 collector edition of Sisley Eau de Soir. £183 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum at Harrods in the UK.

YSL Black Opium Wild Edition

From Yves Saint Laurent, the animal print Wild Edition of Black Opium. In 50 ml Eau de Parfum, due to launch later this month. (via ladepeche.fr)

Thierry Mugler Angel plus Arty Case

From Thierry Mugler, Angel in a 25 ml refillable bottle with 'Arty Case': "With a celestial blue constellation design, this arty case allows you to protect and dress up your iconic Angel bottle." At Debenhams in the UK.

Versace Eros Femme EdT

From Versace, Eros Femme in a new Eau de Toilette concentration: "A radiant and sensual essence, Versace Eros Pour Femme captures the primal power of a woman; a sensual, seductive fragrance bursting with the passion, Eros Pour Femme EDT is an invitation to surrender to desire, and to take control of life's unstoppable forces. At the top, citrus and fruity notes of sicilian lemon, mandarin, raspberry sorbet and white current produce an addictive freshness. A feminine floral heart of freesia, magnolia, jasmine petals and orange blossom absolute gives way to base notes of white patchouli, ambrox, sensual woods and musk that complete this Floral/Fruity/Woody fragrance." In 30, 50 and 100 ml, at Debenhams in the UK.

I cannot tell if the Angel case is just a plastic box, or more like a silicone or rubber type iphone case kind of thing that will actually stick on the bottle, and stay on while you use it? If the latter, great idea, and don’t know why we don’t see tons of those. People love buying cases!

Why does the UK keep getting the cool Angel bottles/cases? There was a black one last year or the year before I was looking for that never came to the U.S…

I love black orchid in small doses, and would definitely try the parfum. Not for 900 though, even with the beautiful Lalique bottle

      It’s worse than that – it’s $990 lol

It’s the extra $90 that will kill you! LOL

I bought the original Tom Ford Lalique bottle set first time around with the 15ml Parfum for about £80 (thank you eBay) and this appears to be identical. The original was a numbered edition and had the number hand etched in the base so if this isn’t numbered too that seems to be the only difference. I guess that as its celebrating the 10th anniversary of Black Orchid they just decided to revive it (yawn) ( doing the same again reduces the costs for them too by saving them the set up costs of new moulds, tooling etc too so they can still charge ££££ even though the bottle will be cheaper for them to make as its a re-tread – though I’m sure that’s a TOTAL coincidence (cough))

Wow, bargain! It was $600 here, I think.

And do not know if it is numbered here — the Tom Ford site provides virtually zero information other than the image and the price.

      And, agree completely!

Haha yeah the outer box was slightly dented so they were happy to get rid of the set for £80 , I’m sure it was retailing at about £450 then so the retail price has doubled in 10 years!

That was yeeeeears ago when eBay was young & full of bargains ( and before the large scale arrival of fakes). I remember back in the day searching Tom Ford on eBay and it came up with 2 items across the whole site, now it’s about 3 million haha.

It better fits the perfume, in my opinion. (Apologies if you’re one of those lucky souls it actually smells good on.)

I just want youse guys to know that $990 are some people mortgage payment ( and by some people I mean me). So unless it is made from The Dark Crystal itself I just dunno about the Tom Ford collectible bottle.

Jealous of your $990 mortgage payment! Can’t get a liveable house in PDX at that price anymore.

(But agree with the sentiment in any case. I try not to think about how much *good* I could do in the world instead of buying perfume, new running gear, etc, etc.!)

I like the shape of the Tom Ford bottle very much but it is spoiled for me by the tacky shiny gold band with the graceless lettering. That and the extra $900. 😉
