The swapmeet / splitmeet / freebiemeet (overdue) follow-up

My apologies, we have not held a follow up poll in ages. So, for those of you who participated in any of our recent swapmeets (episode 7 or 8), splitmeets (episode 4 or 5) or freebiemeets (episode 5 or 6), or in the one and probably last reverse swapmeet, how did it go?

Big thanks to MMKinPA and Misgina for the many sample vials and mini, respectively.

    🙂

I participated in the Reverse Swapmeet, and for me it went very well. I got decants of Tauer Zeta and MDCI Enlevement au Serail, both of which were discontinued shortly before I decided I “needed” them. I had been unable to obtain them in previous swapmeets, so I am very happy.

So glad it worked out for you! Not sure everybody really got the point (or at least, as I intended it), and it didn’t get much participation, so don’t think we’ll do it again.

I’ve just followed the link and am sad I missed it, fwiw.
After successfully sending “cosmetics samples” from Germany across the pond, I’d be excited about exchanging a couple of things only available in Europe for one or two only available in America, but I get that it’s a bit of a scary prospect before the first time.

Freebiemeet episode 6 was my first time participating, and I really enjoyed it.

    Thanks!!

I participated in all of them and wound up with a wonderful and dizzying array of new treats to try — I’m still working my way through them all! I didn’t have any luck with the reverse swapmeet, but the others were a blast. Thank you so much for making these ‘meets’ possible, Robin — they’re a great boon for our fragrant community!

I participated in all of them but I really enjoyed the reverse swap meet. It felt more targeted – eg I want something, this is the list of what I am willing to part with. Done :).

I participated in everything but the reverse swap meet and received lots of new things to try, and decants of stuff I wanted more of. And unloaded things that needed a new home. Thanks for doing these????

I participated in all three. I was trying to get rid of stuff, honest! But ended up with some real treasures. Yes I got a couple of perfumes too, but I’m talking about the wonderful NST people I got to interact with.

I participated in all three and received everything but one package. I still have several freebiemeet packages to mail out once I return from vacay!

Eek just in case it is my freebiemeet package you haven’t received, I mailed it last Saturday (couple weeks later than I originally anticipated). Two days later I saw you post that you are on vacation, so it should be waiting for you when you get home!

I also participated in all but the reverse swap meet, and it went swimmingly as usual! Received and sent all packages, and received tons of extra freebies and perfumista love.

I literally mark the swap/freebie meets in big, bold letters on my calendar quarterly because it’s so much fun. 😀

If you want honest feedback, I was swap lifted by a graduate student in Ann Arbot, MI. Besides that, the other swaps and the reverse swap meet were a success.

Me, too, now that you mention it. But I mostly participate in swaps to get rid of stuff more than to acquire and didn’t notice until now.

I also had a rather jarring experience along the lines of Koyel’s, but beyond those two things, I love participating in all of the meets.

I really liked the reverse swap as it gave me the opportunity to share a HTF vintage perfume with someone who really wanted it. Those kinds of exchanges are really gratifying.

The latest freebiemeet was amazing, not least because they partly led to wonderful swaps! The freebiemeet before that was my first ever, which built the foundation of my now-awesome collection of samples and decants. The swapmeet was mostly great, and I made a lot of new perfume “friends” with whom I still trade fun e-mails. Unfortunately, one person sent me the wrong package, and then accused me of stealing the package I’d never gotten after I sent back the incorrect one (which, Robin, I already told you about)(no relation with SunnyDay’s case). But the number of great swaps/freebie transactions I’ve had vastly outweigh that one dreadful interaction. I look forward to more great meets! Thank you for organizing them, and to all NSTers for making this such a great community.

And Robin, I think the reverse swap meet has a place in the rotation as it gives us the opportunity to make our fervent wishes known and to advertise which of our more “precious”‘juice we’re willing to give up to get what we want.

I have had great experiences with the freebies, swaps, and the reverse swap, in particular. I agree with hajusuuri – I would certainly like to see it in the rotation in the future.

I had great experiences in the swapmeet and was thrilled to acquire a few things that were on my wishlist forever. I feel guilty about the freebie meet as I forgot about it and didn’t list anything but got a perfume I’m happy to have. I miss swapping on Makeupalley – it was fun and it formed much of my collection – so I’m very grateful to NST to providing these meet opportunities, thanks Robin 🙂
