Tom Ford Orchid Soleil ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 16 May 2016 20 Comments

Tom Ford Orchid Soleil

Tom Ford will launch Orchid Soleil, a new feminine fragrance in the Tom Ford Signature line, in July. Orchid Soleil is a 'summer facet' of 2006's Black Orchid, and follows 2014's Velvet Orchid.

The notes feature bitter orange, pink pepper, cypress, red spider lily, tuberose, vanilla, chestnut cream, patchouli and orchid.

Tom Ford Orchid Soleil will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I am always open to try anything by Tom Ford. I love his fragrances. And, I’m curious to see what red spider lily smells like.

Pretty sure that’s a fantasy note. So will smell like “flowers, nondescript”.

As I’ve said before, I prefer the Signature line to the Private Blends so this will be worth trying for me, although I don’t care for Velvet Orchid because it takes out everything I like about Black Orchid. Not sure a summer version will be much better but I’m in kind of an Eeyore mood this morning 🙂

Yeah, I felt the same way about Velvet Orchid: “Let’s redo Black Orchid and take away everything except the pretty.” I can see why people like Velvet Orchid but Black Orchid is so compelling and earthy and borderline weird. I doubt this new one will interest me either (though obviously I have to try it).

Sadly I have forgotten Velvet Orchid altogether, although I know I smelled it.

I generally don’t get along with TF, they possess a strength that I don’t seem to be able to tolerate… but I’m really curious about that chestnut cream note! I’ll have to give this one a sniff.

    Will deff. try this one!
Very fan of Black Orchid. My 50 ml bottle is almost empty, but it took me 8 years and a lot of sharing 😀

They really can twist that bottle design into anything. White iridescent pearl could be interesting.

This sounds good, but not sure how it would work in the heat and humidity of high summer here. I tried and was disappointed in Soleil Blanc, so maybe this one will be a better option.

Yes! I thought so too, but is this a fantasy ingredient? Lol

I think this sounds sort of fun — but who knows? At the very least, Tom Ford frags generally have quality ingredients and overall thoughtfulness so it probably won’t suck! 😉

This sounds rather nice. Pity it won’t be in the adorable 30 mL bottle.
