Sonoma Scent Studio Equestrian ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 12 May 2016 14 Comments

Sonoma Scent Studio 34 ml bottle

Indie line Sonoma Scent Studio will launch Equestrian early next month.

With top notes of apple and grass, heart notes of leather, hay, and violet, and base notes of sandalwood, cedar, moss, and light amber, Equestrian is an outdoorsy yet civilized take on a hay and leather theme. Filtered sunlight streams through the barn’s hay room, well-oiled saddles and bridles hang in the tackroom, horses graze on crisp grass in the pasture, and riders arrive with apple treats in their pockets for their four-legged friends. Equestrian has a cozy drydown with good lasting power and soft sillage.

[...] The scents of hay, grass, and leather have very good associations for me because I spent most afternoons of my youth at a nearby barn, riding and also working at the barn to help earn my horse’s keep. I have always thought that it would be fun to build a scent around an equestrian theme, using hay absolute as a major player. When a sample of a lovely new leather accord arrived in my hands late in 2015, I knew it was time to work on this idea.

Additional notes include jasmine, patchouli and benzoin.

Sonoma Scent Studio Equestrian will be available in 5, 17 and 34 ml.

The apple freaks me out a little, but given how appealing all the other notes sound I’ll definitely be eager to try this!

iiiiinteresting! I’ve been contemplating ordering a handful of samples from SSS (I’ve had a craving for a new, smoky fragrance). I may need to wait until this is out to do so 🙂

On a related note, as part of that hunt, I ordered Last Exit for the Lost from Sixteen92. The hay, woven baskets (cedar), and apple are shared, as is (seemingly) the fall orchard theme. I rather love the scene the scent evokes, though I’m not sure how wearable I find it just yet – first thoughts make me think of Halloween, for whatever reason. May need to run this one head-to-head with LEftL!

This sounds so good. I haven’t ordered anything from SSS for a while (because tricky), but might need to try now.
