Friday scent of the day 4/1

Posted by Robin on 1 April 2016 348 Comments

tea-party-s

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit; and Happy April Fools Day! Our community project for today is all about pure fun: wear your most-fun-ever perfume. Hat tip to thegoddessrena for the idea!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

No surprises on my end — I'm in Byredo Pulp.

Reminder: On 4/8, wear a perfume by Sophia Grojsman, if you have one.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: image is Alice with the Mad Hatter and March Hare at the tea party table [cropped and colorized] by John Tenniel.

Chinatown (Bond no. 9). Never fails to put a smile on my face. Happy April Fools Day, and TGIF! 🙂

I smelled Chinatown on someone the other day and fell in love again. It was my first “niche.” Sadly I can’t smell something in the drydown and it ends up smelling like a votive candle within a few hours.

I just tried Chinatown, and while it smelled lovely, the entirety of it smelled like a really nice scented candle.

Currently wearing the remnants of my very fun hang out session with Sajini yesterday– Lancome Climat and Floris Honey Oud. Later today I’ll be in Guerlain French Kiss.

Yes it was super-fun. thegoddessrena is a perfumista extraordinaire. When I arrived there were already six perfumes set up on the counter with hand labelled paper strips and TGR had already tested a couple on skin. I also tested Climat and it smelled completely different on me, different notes coming forward and an overall different effect (powdery on me and sweet/spicy on her). It was my first time sniffing with an experienced perfumista and it was very mind-expanding.

I also forgot to mention that the oddball Colonial drug guy was extremely professional and gave excellent service in a sort of “Remains of the Day” way. He brought out the perfumes we requested, did paper testers for us and labelled them like a champ. I was concerned that we were keeping him late so asked when they close and he was super chill about it.

Yep TGR definitely has magical unicorn skin. How does she do that? Climat smelled like a completely different perfume on her.

Anyway sounds like there will be another Boston meet up at the Pru this Wednesday. I don’t have the details yet but stay tuned.

Also wouldn’t it be fun to have an East Coast sniffing powwow with the Boston and New York people?

Vamp à New York. I considered Dzing! and Drôle de Rose as well, which suggests that Giacobetti to me translates a certain lightness and ‘insouciance’ in her fragrances, but Vamp is such a favourite, and such an instant mood-lifter, that there was no real hesitation about choosing it for my SOTD.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

For the 5th of my 6 “aphrodisiac pack” perfumes I’m wearing Baruti “Indigo”. This is noteworthy for its ‘mastic’ note, which is the underlying smell of Turkish delight quite apart from any rose or lemon scent. I like this but it is less fun on my skin than when sniffed from the vial. Unfortunately the little decant I had for today had leaked so I only had about 1ml. It isn’t projecting very much today but a couple more sprays might have made the difference. Fun factor 3/5, aphrodisiac factor 1/5, both scores likely depressed by the scant application.

I hate leaky decants! My car STILL smells like Grandiflora Magnolia Sandrine. It’s nice but I would prefer to smell like that, not my car.

I’m starting not to trust decants.

As it’s possibly breaking a heat record for today, I did go for the Gingerly, and what fizzy fun it is. It will probably be gone by the time I am ready to out and face the world, but it’s always fun while it lasts.

Men’s scents are almost never marketed as being fun, I guess because that would imply frivolity, which is too loaded.

My ideal of a fun scent is vintage YSL Champagne/Yvresse: it’s a real, oakmossy chypre, but vivid and effervescent. Incredibly cheerful. It always puts me in a good mood.

I wore vintage Champagne last night! It’s fun, but more like cocktail-party fun for me (as opposed to the joy-bomb of Pulp). Do you know, is it very different from the current version?

      • pyramus says:
        1 April 2016 at 10:25 am

I owned some when it was called Champagne, I now have a ten- or twelve-year-old bottle of Yvresse, and I am confident in saying there was no serious alteration when the name was changed. However, I smelled the newest version, in the cube bottle, last year, and it’s been tinkered with on several levels, the most obvious being that I am fairly sure it has zero oakmoss, replaced with a whole lot of patchouli, as is usual with reformulated chypres. It’s not really the same scent at all, though I think if you smelled it without knowing its predecessors you’d probably enjoy it.

Today was an absolute no brainer, no fail challenge: All perfume is FUN!!! It’s relaxing, it’s artistic, it’s something we do for ourselves for complete luxury!! 🙂

SOTD: Fat Electrician. I really love the approach (and ad copy) of Etat Libre d’Orange. Decided to go with it today, because it also smells amazing!!

As a bonus fun project, I brought a 6 pack sampler from Smell Bent to work today. Later this afternoon, I’m gonna get everyone (including the Perfume Grinch) to sample some fun smellies! I can already report that Walk of Shame is really good stuff!

It’s April Fools: Believe nothing, and trust no one! (Just like most everyday….hee hee) 🙂

SWEET FANCY MOSES. While I was at lunch, one of the coworkers tried a spritz of ALL of them (on paper strips). I have to say: The pharmacy smells like an urinal cake. It is 100% funkified in here!

April Fools indeed!! Note to self: Try them one at a time, maybe even one day at a time!

One guy is still sniffing, and even got on the website to learn more. (He enjoys perfume, and always smells amazing.) I’ve even turned him on to Scentbird.

One guy has left the building to “run some errands”. He’s the Perfume Grinch. He even hates the floor cleaner that housekeeping uses……LOL He claims that his tongue is swelling up and he can’t taste anything. April Fools! He feel punked for sure. (He loves to give me grief about everything, so whatevs!)

My boss, who is an Asian woman, is NOT impressed. I recently watched a BBC documentary about perfume, and Asian customers reportedly like very light, fresh scents. That would be her! Since she’s like a 2nd mom to me, she’s forgiven me for stinking up the place!

Penhaligon’s Tralala. The bottle looks like a puppet. Wearing the perfume is like going through a ride in an amusement park with faces popping out at different turns. It settles down slowly to a classical vanilla musk base. Glad to rediscover this for today’s project!

    Angelique Noire by Guerlain.
Discovered it by coincidence while looking for a bottle of Myrrhe et Delires at NM. Had recently heard that the M&D was discontinued so wanted to have a bottle of it just in case…
They only had a few of the Art et Matiere collection at the DC store so I tried Angelique Noire.
No one ever talks about how beautiful it is. It was an immediate purchase for me and I really love it!
SA was so happy she covered me with samples. So next time you ask for a sample and you’re told they don’t have any, know that they do, but they don’t want to give you any.
    Ha

I had something Margaret’s Hope yesterday afternoon, from a sample from Upton. It was probably fantastic but I did not enjoy it. I am too plebian to enjoy Darjeelings, apparently, even though I try again every so often. But they always bore me.

(Went and got my sample — might be the same as what you’re drinking: 2nd Flush, Darjeeling FTGFOP1. I bought it last summer and still have most of the sample, that’s how much I love it, ha)

I think Darjeelings can be trickly to brew. It took me a while to enjoy them, but these days I do. I love the First Flushes for their floral notes, and the Second Flushes for their fruit. Still not my favourite tea region. Have you tried any black teas from Nepal? They share some of their characteristics with Darjeelings, but seem a little more robust.

Darjeeling is my favorite! Years ago I visited Victoria BC and came home with some Murchie’s darjeeling, and pretty much lived on it for a year or so. I’m not sure of Murchie’s reputation anymore, but am off to order some now and find out. All these years of trying to find a good substitute … can’t believe I never thought of checking the interwebs for them before.

I have tried a few teas from Nepal, a few years back when my sister lived there. Generally speaking I like much bolder teas — my favorite black teas are usually Chinese (mostly Keemuns), although I drink Assams or blends in the morning, and I have a bunch of variations on Earl Grey, and a few Ceylon blacks which I really like. Other than that I mostly drink green teas & green-ish oolongs.

I’ve been drinking green teas for years but I’m really a newcomer to black teas, I only started a couple years ago when I had to (mostly) give up coffee.

Shangri-La Gold is a gorgeous Nepalese black tea.
I too like Ceylon blacks that I often drink in the morning as they always seem to hit the spot. Have you ever tried Vithinakande? Highly recommended.
I think I drink mostly black teas, quite a few oolongs and some green and white teas every now and again. Oh, and if you like Ceylons you might also enjoy teas from the Azores.

Austenfan, yes, I had something from Upton called New Vithanakande FBOPF — went through 2 bags of that, then they no longer had it in stock. It was lovely. Currently working on another from Kenilworth Estate, nice but not quite as nice. Also liked one from St. Clair, but it was expensive.

Mine is the last of a bag from Palais des Thes. All part of the great m’toe sipdown of 2016. We have a huge Chinese wardrobe filled with tea and more tea bursting from every cabinet.

I am not big on 1st flush Darjeeling and much prefer the darker of the 2nd flushes. This one is okay, but still too bright and trebly for me. My favorites are the autumnal flushes which tend to be fruity/woody and have more mid-range and bass to mix my metaphors. Though I once had a cocktail that was a variation on the French 75 with Darjeeling infused simple syrup, cognac, lemon and champagne that was amazing.

I’d been planning to wear S-Perfumes 100% Love, a rose-chocolate-raspberry perfume that always reminds me of a delicious, buttery chocolate raspberry truffle – definitely one of my ideas of fun. 🙂

When I looked up Robin’s review yesterday, though, I saw that 100% Love was composed by Sophia Grojsman and decided to wear it last night while it was still International Women’s Month. 🙂

    https://freebox.it.com/2005/03/11/sperfume-100-love-fragrance-review/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

So today I may follow Hammelis’s suggestion of HdP I Heart Les Carottes or maybe Love Coco.

FYI for those in D.C., I had a delicious pistachio cream-filled macaron at Paul on F Street, N.W., between 13th and 14th. They also have other flavors, including a beautiful raspberry, and boxed assortments.

I’m off work today, which is fun … but woke up with a massive headache, which is not, and which is messing with my perfume ideas for today’s theme. Since the gods apparently want me to go with something light, it will probably be Jennifer Aniston (beachy fun), or Diptyque L’Eau Tarocco (orange-y fun). Or maybe Diptyque Eau Rose, which my husband thinks smells like the best bubblebath ever. Or maybe I’ll go outside and gather a bunch of blossoms off our overloaded flowering cherry tree and rub them all over myself – now THAT sounds like fun. 🙂

What a fabulous idea! In the end this morning I tried Atelier Bois Blond, couldn’t smell it at all, and topped it off with Wood Sage & Sea Salt. Soothing. But now that it’s nearing 60 degrees outside, I’m going to take myself outdoors and do some digging in the dirt … and seriously consider that petal-bath idea for afterwards. Thanks for the suggestion!

Apparently, I associate fun with fruity fragrances which are very underrepresented in my collection (my fruityest fragrance is probably either a decant of Rose Ikebana or my bottle of Grand Neroli), so I was thinking of wearing some Calyx but my sample has evaporated. Instead, my SOTD is Peau de Peche by Keiko Mecheiro (not sure that’s the proper name…?) which I think is pretty fun. I wish I had spritz a couple more times though since it has already soften quite a bit.

Hmmm. Not sure I’m all that much fun. My collection seems generally serious. . . So I dug out my dusty bottle of MJ Bang. A spritz on my hand to say I’m participating, but it is unlikely to survive through the day. It’s not a very good fit with the lovely weather.

I am taking a much-needed personal day to check off about a dozen things from my to-do list that just couldn’t get done on a non-school day–strategically planned for when it would be 70 degrees and sunny! 😀

You smell good and yes pink equals fun to me too.

I very nearly went for a Goutal but realised I don’t have any of her ‘pink’ ones so Drole de Rose it is.

I still haven’t tried Drole de Rose, although it sounds like my cup of tea, Lipstick Rose is one of my favourites, and I have been tempted to BB DdR on eBay, but I have scent eating skin, and I know L’artisan’s can be quite ethereal..
Maybe I will hunt it out on our perfume Expedition in London!

Such fun reading all these… I originally thought I’d go for one of the new Demeters I got…Cupcake or Baby Shampoo… But then I started digging through samples.

So, it is Olympia! A Paris music hall… That seems fun, and since I’m heading downtown for a lunch date, works for that too…

Too late for the fun game. Alice was one of my secret friends when a kid. The second one was Tutankhamun! I hade advanced tasted even then.

If I had any left I would have worn Dzing! it allways maked me giddy with joy.
Instead its CKbe, a casual splash that I’m curiously attached to. It starts with an overdose of linalool, the sweet, fresh smell that dominates Lavender, then settles in dry spices (it’s almost a fougere) and skin-close musks. In hot weather it a hot floral note pops up. Supposed to be magnolia.

I’m fighting a headache this morning too. Not sure if it’s a result of spending yesterday laying in the mud with my head in a trench trying to find a leaky pipe, lack of sleep due to surprise hail, or the really screwy weather.
I’m in a very good mood in any case because we needed the small amount of rain and watching the kitties react to the piles of melting hail was very amusing.
I was planning on wearing something very fruity and un-perfumista like for today’s challenge, Ineke’s Scarlet Larkspur, but am instead enjoying reading everyone else’s SOTDs and waiting to see how my headache turns out. I might risk Pulp later if I feel up to it since I now have a serious craving.

All perfume is fun, so a hard choice. Was going to go with Nuxe Prodigieux for the summery-beachy fun factor, or Gucci Rush for the party-girl fun vibe, but decided on Mohur just because it makes me so happy.
There are a few perfumes that I get gleefully excited about wearing and Mohur is on that special list.
I sometimes wonder why I have any other kind, but I think the ones that are just nice/interesting/appropriate for the occasion have their place too. Then the ones that make you go “squeeee!” remain special treats.

Corsica Fiorosa because beach in Corsica double ditto. But then I saw Birds of Paradise is on the long list for a prize and decided to wear it in honor of the achievement and because I am trying to decide on a full bottle. (It’s expensive, but the bottles are beautiful, which long rectangular wood caps.)

I was NOT in the mood for a fun scent. I went with Bond No.9’s Harrods for Her, as the thought of being many miles away, shopping in Harrods with no sticky child sounded very appealing.

SOTD is Black Orchid, for Vegas-style fun. Seriously jealous of all those wearing Pulp today, as I have already burned through my 10 ml decant, and really want a full bottle. This afternoon’s fun – I’m going in to the shelter to adopt the dog I’ve been fostering! He’s 8 years old, has joint problems, and a bite history (mild, and a result of redirection when he’s gone crazy over the nearness of another dog, he’s otherwise great with just people), and could be a poster dog for why no-kill shelters are needed, as he wouldn’t have lasted a week at a kill shelter.

Oh my gosh, as a shelter worker, thank YOU so much for being a volunteer! The shelter I work at has many volunteers (their volunteer hours put together equal something like 50 full time staff), and the awesome work they do really restores my faith in humanity. It counters the sometimes horrible behavior in people that results in so many dogs and cats ending up in shelters in the first place.

Damn, I forgot about Dzing! Otherwise I woudl have worn it too. I’m wearing Aftelier Secret Garden today, recently got hold of a few samples . Cuir de Gardenia and Wild roses are still waiting their turn. I thought Secret Garden because it’s sort of put me in mind of Alice in Wonderland, and secret door, and rabbit, and gardens, and generally I thought it would be fitting. The perfume itself.. well.. it’s not as much fun. It’s quite serious, actually. I like it, but it’s kind a more dark and sinister secret garden, in a sense.
So, now what else is there to try from Aftelier? I’m very intrigued by this brand, and it’s quite hard to come by here in the UK.

My Byredo Pulp came in last night. I couldn’t wait to put it on this morning. I had a horrible start to my morning (locked my keys in my car with cell phone, wallet, money, purse, and light panel on in my car)
But, believe it or not, while the cold wind was blowing (in the 60’s in Houston this morning….WHAT!), my Pulp brought a great smile to my face as I continuously got whiffs of it). Awwww, the power of fragrance! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I haven’t tried Pulp.. I need to do that. It seems to be getting some love today. I went with Demeters today. I was torn between two of my samples, so I have one on each arm. And they are Gingerale and Egg Nog. The gingerale scent is pretty true to life and gets the fizz too. The egg nog one, however.. if they’d labeled it “cookie-scented candle” I’d believe it. It even has a note in it that smells like candle wax.

Also, also: PSA to my fellow Houstonians who live/work/do stuff around the Galleria: I was at the Walgreens at Westheimer & Sage the other day, and the SA in the cosmetics section told me they’re having a 20% off sale from 4/10 – 4/16, and the Demeter fragrances are included in that. Just in case you need any, you know. I was there to buy a bottle of Honeysuckle but decided to wait and go back for the sale.

Heh it’s quite interesting to note the type perfumes seen as ‘fun’ as opposed to perfumes people might wear in an ‘unfunny’ mood.

‘I’m a starched-up board room biatch in my No5 so don’t give me that bs with your ‘fun’ perfumes! Fun? FUN?? Who give two hoots about fun?? I’m No5! Lick my steel-capped boots!’

Anyhoo, the closest in my collection would be Lou Lou but I didn’t feel like Lou Lou. So I wore Truth by Calvin Klein. Tis a verry nice clover-y vetiver and whatnot with excellent longevity. Muchly appreciated now that somewhat warmer weather is around the corner.

It’s bright and sunny outside but the temp is not in line, so I’m wearing Bobbi Brown Beach and pretending it’s warmer out then it is 🙂

And in the latest Elle magazine (April) there was a perfume sample of Alien. NOT a strip or even a tiny foil packet with towelette, its a real atomizer!! You pull up the top and then press the bottle image, there is a tiny plastic nozzle atomizer that sprays perfume. It clearly has more then one spray in it. Maybe I’m behind in this type of news, but I’ve NEVER seen anything like this in a magazine before, it’s quite generous and novel. This was magazine sent to me as a subscriber so I’m not sure if the same thing is available off the magazine stands.

It IS a headachey kind of day. Lots of sinus pressure. THAT’S no fun. But I’m wearing Hilde Soliani FRaaagola saalaaata, which to me smells of strawberries and balsamic vinegar over vanilla gelato with a mint leaf.
Hope everyone feels better! (And Missionista – better it was chocolate all over the bed…)

Hello, and happy April to NST. It’s early Saturday morning (Dakkiecwoke me being sad again), and it’s raining, but it’s a GOOD day, ‘cos the dear man will be back from Australia this afternoon. I’ve missed him a stupid amount-clearly, I’m not self-contained at all. To keep on smelling of fun, I’ve put on Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum, which I really like most days (today’s one of those days, thank goodness). I smell like the air around the candy floss stall at a fair, all warm sugar and –well, nothing much else, actually. Fattening, unhealthy, non-nutritious, tooth-rotting, and delicious! I don’t eat candy floss, but it seems I don’t mind smelling of it. Perhaps when I grow up I’ll fall out of love with gourmands, but in the meantime, I’m going to wallow in them shamelessly and happily!

        Hey Celestia!
Mr. Spicebomb and I met on match dot com. I’d been online dating 2-3 years when I met him. (I was *his* first date since he’d recently joined. Lucky dog!) We’ve been together nearly 3 years (3 yrs. in July), and he proposed about two weeks ago while we were on vacation, driving down the Oregon coast.

I feel very happy and very fortunate! He’s a great guy, and I’ve spent most of my life fearing I’d missed my chance at marriage, having spent a decade with a dud during most folks’ prime dating years.

        Thanks! 🙂

My favorite vacation of all time was driving down the coast of Oregon and Northern California back in 2000. Hubby and I were young, no kids yet, and just picked out random restaurants and hotels along the route. Very romantic time….I can imagine it was perfect for your romantic moment/proposal! CONGRATS!!!

Yuzu and Cocoa is a chameleon on me. Sometimes I get fancy Creamsicle, and sometimes it’s more towards coconut. Not really getting a chocolate vibe of any sort from it, though. It has definitely grown on me.

It’s a toss up between Blackbird and New Musk for me. Both of these are recent purchases. I like Blackbird more and more and have worn it pretty much every day since getting it. I think that’s how I do things…like new shoes, new bags, new books, new types of honey…wear, read, or eat them continuously for a few weeks ( or until half finished) and then that’s it for a while. Might explain why I have mostly half full bottles and a stack of unfinished novels in my life. I enjoy the blackberry in Blackbird and it is perfect for autumn. New Musk is a bit more of a challenge as it is pretty and musk and I am not very comfortable with pretty or musk (or elegant scents for that matter). But I guess that’s part of the fun, and getting a perfume all the way from a sweet guy in Arizona is fun for sure…just makes me laugh. The perfume equivalent of hosting an exchange student.

It had a fantastic cliff top, ocean walk today: ocean, hills, petrels, sooty shearwaters, albatrosses, terns, fur seals, sea lions, silver sun rays and shadows of low mist …and tussocks…i kept pressing my wrist to my nose as i plodded up a very big hill. Yes, sorry for the confusion. BPAL is Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, and O is the title of the perfume. BPAL has ?hundreds? of scents in oil form. I haven’t been on the website in a long time, but the goth poetry and stories fascinated me. I remember O was listed under Ars Amorata. It is a unique company aesthetic and community. As far as scent goes, I bought a travel size Bergamot Soleil yesterday while perusing in Sephora. The opening is fantastic and fun, was planning on wearing it for today’s project. The opening lasts all of about five minutes and then…nothing. I must be anosmic to the “Musc” dry down. Glad I only bought the purse size.

Amarige was always intended as a joyous happy fragrance, but especially since the crushing Luca Turin review, it feels like poor taste to reveal that you like it. Well, phooey to that. The fun of wearing Amarige lies partly in the sheer defiance of critical opinion. 🙂

La Chasse aux Papillons is my easy-to-love fun scent. Most of the time I prefer simple, easy fun. A challenge can be nice, but today is Friday, so I
    opt for easy.

La Chasse perfectly recalls the sweet yellow-green scent of honeysuckle vines and flowers growing in the backyard of my childhood home. It’s like space-time travel in a bottle. Pure bliss.

I’ve enjoyed reading today’s fun scents and comments. I hope anyone fooled today had a fun and funny experience. My sister gave me a moment’s pause when she said she read that Trader Joe’s is closing. If that actually happened I’d cry.

Two pub trivia facts that popped into my head:

Today is Susan Boyle’s birthday and the anniversary of the creation of Apple, Inc. It’s a good day for dreamers.

I love LCaP, and it is very joyous. Have you tried any other scents with linden? I Scent You a Day had a review of La Chasse that was essentially, meh, just an average linden blossom perfume, which made me wonder what I might be missing. The only other one I’ve smelled was DSH Ma Plus Belle, at a perfume event a couple of years ago, not long after I fell down the rabbit hole. I still recall the scent clearly (there’s wisteria, too), and regret not buying some then and there. (“Too floral for me,” I remember thinking. Idiot.)

LCaP is so lovely. I’ll try the Extreme version next, and maybe Mimosa pour Moi.

I haven’t tried other linden scents, but I am always on the lookout for them. I’ve learned that I love yellow flowers like linden, ylang, and honeysuckle with white flowers like jasmine.

Oy vey! I had a crazy busy day! All of a sudden, everyone became especially needy today. One colleague whom I haven’t talked with in ages (but due for a conversation in 3Q) called me out of the blue to ask bizarre questions — and even she knew they were not exactly my coverage area when she started with “I know yoy don’t handle this but perhaps you can direct me to the right person.” Anyway, it was appropos for my SOTD which is more in the realm of weird rather than FUN.

SOTD = CdG + Stephen Jones Wisteria Hysteria

Props to the packaging — milky white onion-shaped bottle with vertical folds wrapped in a veil-like plastic sheet nestled inside a mini hat box. How cool is that?!? The juice — soapy spicy carnation with indeterminate anyflower and metallic overtones – it’s unlike anything I’ve smelled but not my favorite. Overall, the fun factor was definitely there and I’m glad I wore it today.

    Other contenders were:
    Prada Candy
    Angel Eau Sucree
4160Tuesdays Sexiest (bkah blah too lazy to look up the correct name)
    Voyage d’Hermes Parfum
    Bvlgari Black
    Guerlain French Kiss

I can’t wait to read what the NST siblings picked today!

April Fools Day came a day early for me when Robin one-upped me with that lovely photo of the macarons yesterday and then several NST’rs mentioned the yummy Laduree macarons. I had already chosen my scent for Fun Friday, L’Occitane Delices des Fleurs, because its sugared rose petals and powdery violet reminded me of my visit to the Laduree restaurant and tearoom on the Champs Elysees, one of my most delightful memories of a Paris trip and where I first learned to love that special French sweet. I made more fun memories today wearing that scent, spent the whole day having fun and laughing with the grandkids. Walking home from the Zootopia movie, we passed a lovely linen shop whose window display featured an assortment of French tea towels. My favorite one was a colorful depiction of the Eiffel Tower – which was made of macarons! I must have it and will be going back to pick that one up on Monday!

I had planned to wear Bombay Bling! But I had various swap items lying around, including a decant of By Kilian Back to Black (thank you, KVA), and it’s supposed to get hot next week, when even I might not wear a heavy tobacco scent, so, long story short, I cheated a bit. I spent the morning in various swap and sample order goodies that arrived in the last week (including Britney Spears Island Fantasy, an extra, which is going to get a serious trial on a warm day), and am now in Back to Black, and contemplating spraying on a little of the L’Artisan Tea for Two that finally arrived this evening, which I bought blind in the Hautelook sale, despite it being a full ten dollars over my blind-buy limit, before shipping, even. (Enabler pins all around to everyone who mentioned the sale here! I thank and/or curse you, depending on how it does on me.) I feel that I have stayed true to the general spirit of the day though, as what is more fun than trying a bunch of new perfumes? And then reading about the fun you all had with your choices? (Pulp is going on my sample list right now.)
