Parfums MDCI Fetes Persanes ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 22 March 2016 9 Comments

Parfums MDCI Fêtes Persanes

French niche line Parfums MDCI has launched Fêtes Persanes, a new fragrance.

“Fêtes Persanes”, which translates as “Persian Feasts”, is drawn, like “Les Indes Galantes”, from an opera by 18th century French composer Jean-Philippe Rameau.

It is, after “Cio Cio San” and “Les Indes Galantes”, the third stage on a long journey along the Silk Road, from Japan, Asia, Central Asia, Turkey, to the shores of Europe.

Also known as “Les Fleurs”, “Fêtes Persanes” is the third entrée in the “Les Indes Galantes” ballet héroïque which takes us to the garden of Ali, a confidant of the Persian Prince Tacmas, where a magnificent flower festival is to be held that night...

Fêtes Persanes was developed by perfumer Cécile Zarokian. The notes include bergamot, black pepper, elemi, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, white musk, lignum vitae, cedar, patchouli and vanilla.

Parfums MDCI Fêtes Persanes can be found now at First in Fragrance in Germany, in 75 ml Eau de Parfum for €225.

Love the idea of a magnificent flower festival, though the notes listed don’t make me think of such! Had to google lignum vitae: it’s the national tree of the Bahamas.

Yes — same as guaiac wood.

I was thinking the same thing…a flower festival with no flowers? Rather La PrixEau Faux-ish.

Maybe there are flowers and they didn’t list them. But no idea.

I never know whether to say their name as ‘Em Dee Cee Eye’ or ‘1601’. If anyone can set me straight…

I say the letters, but no idea what the proper way to say it is, sorry!

That’s good enough for me, thanks!

It stands for “Marchal Design & Créations Indépendantes”, so it’s letters, not a Roman numeral.

I am testing this right now… Quite spicy, a bit sweet, not particularly floral. Fortunately I am not getting the white musk. It is nice but I would not want to wear it if the weather was at all warm, it seems like it could be overwhelming.
