A Bathing Ape ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 29 February 2016 6 Comments

A Bathing Ape fragrance

Japanese clothing / streetwear brand A Bathing Ape, aka Bape, has launched an eponymous fragrance.

A BATHING APE® EAU DE TOILLETTE [sic] uses sandalwood, a prized aroma in Japan since ancient times and woodland notes to create a rich earthy aroma that is housed in a green specially made BAPE® bottle, inspired by lush forests. The ingredients were carefully selected and blended by perfumers in Japan.

A Bathing Ape is available now at Colette in France, in 75 ml Eau de Toilette.

The press release is cringe worthy (par for the course), but I’m actually intrigued by this, mostly because I went through a BAPE phase many many moons ago.

Ha, you are way cooler than me. Of course I have never heard of them.

They are the Japanese version of FUBU- a watered down version of edgy hip-hop wear. Weird that the fragrance sounds so ordinary!

It’s not much of a description, but you’re right that it doesn’t sound like edgy hip hop!

Wow, this will generate a lot of interest. I only know what BAPE is because I always used to see lines of customers outside their SoHo boutique when I spent more time in that part of town.

I love BAPE and I love sandalwood. Boo-hoo that it’s a Colette exclusive.

The bottle is supposed to look like the profile of an ape, it’s kind of hard to see that unless you are familiar with the BAPE clothing logo (inspired by lush forests?)
