Monday scent of the day 2/22

Posted by Robin on 22 February 2016 377 Comments

G of the Sea

Ack, another Monday. Hope it is going smoothly so far? And what fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Gwen Stefani Harajuku Lovers G, but not, unfortunately, from the G of the Sea mermaid bottle. I would no doubt smell way better if I had only bought that bottle when I had the chance.

Reminder: on 2/26, crack that whip! We're wearing leather. If you need some ideas, do check out Angie's Leather fragrances 101! (suggested by thegoddessrena)

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

That bottle is as cute as a button. I’m starting the leather theme today with ELdO’s Rien. It’s such a wonderful scent, and it has my favourite perfume name.

I wore Rien for the first time yesterday! I’m a wimpy suede-lover but it was great. Cuir d’Ange for me today.

It is a wonderful name! I really enjoy the ELdO’s perfumes I’ve tried, Putain des Palaces (my own favorite perfume name) and Fils de Dieu, but have yet to try Rien.

P des P is another good name. I think that you may like Rien, it’s a very bold and daring scent, and oddly introspective as well.

To make it even more enticing I think that it smells just like the attic in the Château d’Azay le Rideau when I visited in 2012.

I haven’t, although I would like to. The original is probably the strongest scent I own, plus it has the half life of Plutonium.

Hacking my way through untried and mostly forgotten samples, I put on Amouage Fate Man this morning. I liked it at first, though only close up, because at a distance something unidentifiably unpleasant kept announcing itself, and now, two hours in, it’s nothing but unpleasantness. A scrubber, on me.

Amouage’s newer stuff is really hard to love, isn’t it I think the last one that I loved was Beloved. My ultimate favorite from Amouage is Epic with Lyric close behind.

I can way pre-date you…the last one I loved was Jubilation XXV. I do think Christopher Chong is talented, but all the same I don’t really care for the perfumes he’s making.

This is literally the second Amouage I’ve ever tried, the first one being the men’s version of Dia, which I found completely nondescript, so they’re 0 for 2 with me. I have a sample of Fate Woman, which everyone seems to love (Turin gave it 5 stars), so maybe?

La Fumee Classique by Miller Harris. I am incredibly fond of this one, it seems elegant and intelligent yet very far from too ‘proper’. It has become rather warm but damp in London – if only it were sunny it would feel like spring…

I love La Fumee, it was the first perfume I bought for my husband after seriously falling down the rabbit hole, and it’s a nice one we can ‘share’, it really is very comforting on a grey London day.

Amaranthine, to sweeten the start in a new week, I know it’s not a popular scent, but sometimes I just enjoy its greenish-milky-floral sweetness.

Also doing a ‘leather week’ because, well, because I can, for a change. :^)

As usual, trying samples of things I’ve never tried bdfore. Monday’s leather is Serge Lutens “Cuir Mauresque”. I like the complexity but don’t love the scent as a whole. I mean, it’s fine, but I’m holding out for those perfumes that add a new dimension to your life, and for me this isn’t one of those.

Cheers Robin! I like reading how other people interpret and respond to the ‘challenge’, and it’s helpful for a newbie to get a sense of how various perfumes relate to each other. I could probably do 2 weeks of leathers, but I’m prioritising (a) perfumes that put leather as the star attraction rather than a bit part and (b) decants rather than samples, because I think the manufacturers’ samples ought to have a longer shelf life.

If I were left to my own devices, I’d eventually get around to wearing everything, but I like how some of these projects make me think and reflect. And I can always sit out the ones that do nothing for me, like Estée Lauder (I have none, they don’t seem to do men’s scents, UK website doesn’t sell samples: file under ‘really can’t be bothered’). :^)

I like it too, but then sometimes I think there are fragrances in my collection that get ignored because they haven’t, and like G today, probably never will, fit into a project! So trying to not feel bound to do a week every time, and hope other people don’t start to feel like it’s a burden.

    OOH LEATHER WEEK.

I am kind of a leather wimp – as in, I *like* it, but I really only like it in certain iterations. Floral leathers, yes. (Usually.) Suedey ones, sure, bring it on.

Green-chypre leathers, no (DON’T YOU DARE SNEAK UP ON ME, BANDIT).

Beasty leathers, back the heck right off. (Cuir de Russie is actually in this category for me even though I generally get on well with Chanels.)

So today is vintage Jolie Madame extrait. Mmmmm. Equal parts bouquet and combat boots.

Any leather that slips into the rawhide category or reminds me of rubbing mink oil into my beloved softball mitt when I was a kid is not happening or me. Because it reminds me of re-lacing my docksiders or rubbing mink oil on my softball mitt! But a very soft background is lovely: Vol de Nuit, vintage Shalimar, Cuire de Lancome, Kelly Caleche… maybe some lightly leathery vetiver like in vintage No 19… but otherwise, no.

I should love Bandit (you know me and galbanum) but I don’t. That thing is a whip-crack!

I am still puzzled as to why I can’t smell Vol de Nuit. I’ve tried it twice now (edt, from two different decanters), and it just smells faint and musty. I don’t understand it.

That’s too bad you can’t smell VdN. I agree it has that musty Guerlain accord. I prefer the extrait which has a bit more heft with the florals and amber. There is just a touch of a cold leather accord which makes it a little different.

“Leather wimp”:)))) I am somewhat of a leather wimp, too. Although I wear Bandit and Cuir de Russie, it does not happen often. Typically I sniff a leather fragrance from a decant, think “Ooh, it’s lovely but I need something lighter today” and choose something else as a SOTD. 😀
Floral leathers are the easiest to wear for me, too. I hope to wear my Jolie Madame this week, but I want to do it on a sunny day. Today’s weather is not right. 🙂

I think I associate violets (flower and leaf) strongly with spring, so now, at the end of winter, I am waiting for a spring-like weather to wear Jolie Madame. It seems appropriate.
As for leathers without fresh flowers, overcast days might be better, I agree.

I’m not sure what I’ll do for leather week b/c I generally only like a very “supporting role” with leather, but I do like that kind of vague leathery vetiver smell so I’ll have to investigate… Today, in honor of what I am hoping will be an early spring, I am rocking just a dab of Clinique Aromatics Elixir b/c it has that great earthy vibe….

It’s a rainy, gray day in Atlanta….hopefully the trees and flowers are about to get a good soak, and start the Spring blooming! 🙂 A gal can dream…..

SOTD: Week-end a Deauville. May have to pull this sample out again on Friday…it has a leather note! I must not have applied enough though…90 minutes in, and it’s nearly faded away….

In other smelly news…..2 impulse buys this weekend. Sofia Vergera’s Love, and Tommy Bahama for Her (2012). Deeply discounted! To my nose, Love reminds me of a lighter version of Black Opium. Very very nice, and will be great for the office. Tommy Bahama was the BOGO deal, and it’s MEH. Smells really great on my 11 yr old though!

And….the sales rep was kind enough to give me a tester (only 20% left in it, but plenty to try) of 212 Sexy. LOVE THAT STUFF. That was probably the reason I bought something from her….never underestimate the power of great customer service!

Well, the hubby finally noticed the uptick of perfume bottles around the house…..LOL Too many bargains!

Sooooo, the girls and I have promised NO MORE for quite a while!! (I did have to tell him that a bottle of Insolence is coming from FragranceNet, but I chalked that up to my upcoming March birthday….HA HA)

Time to slow down and enjoy what we have! 🙂

I hate when my spouse notices a sudden influx of perfume. He’s pretty great about it, but I feel guilty anyway since he has hobbies that require funds too (and I usually benefit from his woodworking) and we do have a budget. I’ll need to rein it in soon myself.

I also decided to do a leather week because I have a lot of leather fragrances I do not wear often enough. Although wearing leathers five days in a row may prove to be a bit too much. 🙂
Today I am wearing my sample of Knize Ten. A dark, gothic leather, but smooth and warm at the same time. It has a restrained chic. It might be a bit too heavy for me, but it is still amazing.

I’m finally participating in the Maurice Roucel community project and am wearing 24, Faubourg. Beautiful, but way too classy for my morning activities – taking my unshowered self to the post office and grocery store.

FYI – I went to Nordstrom yesterday to check out the Jo Malone Herb Garden collection. They were already sold out of the Sorrel & Lemon Thyme! (SA said they had it for three days.) They only had a few bottles left of the Lavender & Corriander, too. If anyone’s interested in this line, don’t drag your feet. Surprisingly, I liked all five of them. They all had typical JM staying power, but were far more interesting than any of the limited editions that I can remember from recent years.

Do check them out. They’re fun, quirky, and a nice departure from all of the other offerings at the perfume counter. I don’t think you need to run to Jo Malone right now, but definitely go sooner rather than later if you want a chance to try or buy all five.

That’s just at my local Nordstrom, but they aren’t getting any more in. The JM website still has them as does the Nordstrom website. I don’t know how other stores are faring. I just thought I’d mention it because –Three Days! I’d hate for anyone to miss out because he/she waited a reasonable amount of time to go sniff them.

I ended up ordering the lemon & thyme online, and I may go back for the one with clover. I wish the set of five wasn’t full size. I can’t spend $350 on what essentially, to me, are novelty scents.

It’s lighter and a little less rich than Guet-Apens with just a tiny bit of that weird bitter powdered almondy thing that Guerlain EDTs always seem to have. Still has a good amount of oomph, though, and the good far overpowers the weird EDT note. If only I could afford one of those bottles of Guet-Apens I see sometimes on eBay. Sigh. Cruel indeed, to discontinue both.

Aaah. Glad to know about the almond thing, because I don’t like almond notes and the hype could have led me to want some of this.

I will never fully understand why perfume companies are now in a constant state of churning out mediocre product and completely neglecting the classics of their past. Hope you luck into some Guet-Apens some day.

This may or may not help at all, but it doesn’t actually have an almond note, and definitely nothing almond-extracty, soapy, or candy-like. I think of it more as raw, ground nuts and it’s often turned me off from Guerlain’s EDTs. However, in VdNE, I don’t think it’s noticeable most of the time.

Warm and womanly over here, but I’m probably going to be making a list of the leathers everyone else is wearing for eventual sampling.

Also, it is basically spring in New York right now. Is it terrible that I’m enjoying what is possibly a direct result of global warming? It probably is.

Been too busy to really think about what leather scents I have. My husband brought me a tiny sample of Byredo Super Cedar and L’Artisan Rose Privee yesterday. The Super Cedar is nice but it did make me think I do not like cedar as much as I think I do. Actual wood, as in the smell of a cedar closet I just love. When it is listed as a note in perfume? Not so much. Rose Privee starts out like a slightly more peppery Mohur, but then is gone in an hour.
    SOTD is Byredo Gypsy Water.

Good idea. Memoir is one of my favorite winter bedtime scents and Epic has recently been getting lots of daytime wear in this warm weather. Funny thing is, I recently re-discovered Epic, which I liked a lot upon first sample and then ignored for about a year because all I remembered was the pickle note in the opening. Now I remember how easy to wear and comfortable it is and I think I would wear it a lot.

I haven’t tested Epic because I think I read somewhere that it has cumin, which I think you like, but on me it’s smells like I haven’t showered for a month. I may sample it anyway. BTW, I would compare the Fragrance net price with Beauty Spin. Sometimes BS has the better deal even with the 30% discount. 🙂

It’s just that I would like to hit the order button before the offer expires on the 2nd. I just need to make up my mind. The good news for me right now is that I actually went through my worn and reviewed decant bag and threw out some evaporated decants. If I had two of the same scent that I could get into one decant, I did it. So now I am down to one decant of Sarrasins, Jasmin Full, and Coco. I’m happy too that I have not spent a whole lot on perfume this year that I have in years past. Only about $150 and mostly decants.

I’m in FM L’Eau d’Hiver today. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something in this that sets my teeth on edge. Of the listed notes, I know it’s not the jasmine, musk, or honey. I’m suspecting it might be the iris or the heliotrope.

It may be the angelica. Looking through things, I enjoy too many other fragrances with listed iris notes for that to be the problem. I also quite enjoy a couple of fragrances with heliotrope notes, so I’m wrong on both counts. Whatever it is, it has faded a little bit.

I just looked up and found this… Angelica root (What can I do with this stinker?)
It really dominates any blends with a sort of celery/old fence/spicy musky note. It goes quite peppery when with lemon, and is quite nice with another green like oakmoss. It leans more towards a basenote than a middle range. Lavender works quite nicely with it as a floral. IMO only, not gospel.ed up angelica… So Mals was right again…. good nose…

I’ve got a week’s worth of leathers but leather is more of a fall scent for me, don’t think I’ll wear them every day. SOTD is Vetiver Oriental.

If our weather continues cool and wettish, I may make this a leather week. Couldn’t wear the warm sweet leathers like Cuir Ottoman (I still have a sample) or Tuscan Leather, but the floral ones play okay in spring.

Why hello! I missed you all over the past couple of weeks- sometimes life just takes over for a while..

I have enough leathers for a week or two and for various moods and weather, so I started off my leather week with Lonestar Memories.
I bought a bottle a few months ago and it seems less birch-tarry than my sample which is a few years old now. Still wonderful, but I do love that smokiness.

All is well, mostly… My absence was due mainly to my work hours- this post usually arrives at about 10:30pm and I was in bed by then for early starts and the mornings were just busy.
And I’ve had a bit of an experience like ihadanidea… an ex reappearing out of the woodwork :-/ … It was such a heartbreaking experience the first time around and now he’s back- 4 years later! It would be much easier if we didnt love each other but we do- But sometimes love just isnt enough.. so it’s been a huge whirlwind of emotions here and I’m still yet to settle on any which one :-/
So. Now you’re all up to date with Perthie’s emotional crisis 😉
Oh and I wore Broadway Nite for Roucel Friday 🙂 🙂

Oooooh honey. We may be living the same life on opposite sides of the world. I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through this.

But you’re right – love really isn’t enough. It’s an essential component, but not enough. But giving up on the love (which, as far as I can tell, never fully goes away) is a gut-wrenching task. It’s why a lot of us remain single – the prospect of diving in and risking it again is too much.

Kudos to you for taking care of yourself, and if you want an American going through the same thing to talk to about it, do let me know.

Hmmm…what rotters these blokes are, my scented friends. Let me tell you a story, which won’t help, but may entertain you a little. My father was a big man, physically and psychologically tough, with a big, bloke-y, quintessentially Kiwi personality, and you would have thought he would be happiest down the pub or on the farm, being laconic with his mates. However, but he ended up with a houseful of girly girls, and he had more sympathy for our dilemmas with clothes/boyfriends/careers than you would have thought to look at him. He used to listen very carefully when I took my tales of a broken heart to him, and then he would say, “Well dear, it’s hard, but remember that somebody is better than nobody, but nobody is better than anybody.” Of course, I was only a teenager then, and his aphorism is too facile for grown up heartbreak, but yet, there is a skerrick of wisdom there that might help a little when you contemplate these rotten “anybodies” who have captured and retained your love but have proven unworthy of it. Your “somebody” truly is out there, and you will meet him someday soon.

Starting the week with Bottega Veneta. I still prefer the Eau Legere version, of which I got a mini in a swap a while back.

Leather! I could have done a week of leathers, too! But because I’m old and absent minded, I completely forgot. Maybe I’ll make up for it by wearing one spritz of each leather perfume I own all at the same time on Friday! The whole block may need to be evacuated????

Trying to conjure a little spring my way with a spritz of Michael Kors White. In the middle of reading Turin and Sanchez’ The Guide, and I can feel their disdain despite the fact this one has likely never come across their radar. Nevertheless, I find it lovely. A lighter variation of the original MK powerhouse thanks to a soft infusion of freesia, jasmine, and white peony, along with the signature tuberose and gardenia. It dries down to a quiet tonka and musk. Me likey.

    Oh! Leather week!

SOTD: February returned today- cold, foggy and rainy, with grey skies and clean smelling bracing air. Had a mild case of the sads. Went back on my word and put on my TF Noir Femme. Okay, it’s decided: TF Noir pour femme is really best in chilly weather, cold rainy weather. The richness and underlying ambery sweetness is meant to hug you close to the body. But in warmer weather might be much too much, as Angela wrote about in her review.

My cloud of sadness is already lifted a bit.

OOTD: Black cashmere tunic sweater, brown miniskirt, tights, short high healed boots.

I do a lot of shadow work and the bag. It’s really good for getting out the stress. You don’t have buy a bag- go to a few classes when you can. You will be surprised at how much fun it is.

Slow slow start to the day and a couple of big meetings this afternoon, so I am debating whether to go Bergamoss (I just bought my first back up bottle, although at 9mls and LE on the EDP it seems essential!) or Mohur. Very different choices, I know!

When I was thinking about Leather Friday, I thought “Well I have two leather scents, CdL and CdR, which should I save for Friday?” Then, “Oh wait, there’s Skive too.” Then, “…oh, and Midnight in Paris…” and then “oh yeah, Gomma…” So apparently it’s going to be Leather Week here in Pixeltown.

SOTD is Skive, and I smell fabulous 😉

Feeling pretty rotten with stinking cold, but luckily smell still intact , for now anyway. I’ve been enjoying Epic from yesterday on my scarf, mingling with parfum cherie par camille on my sweat shirt cuffs, and have just added a long lost sample of Taif to the mix!, I’m really loving Taif, surprising, as I’d written O.J off, as not a house that agrees with my skin chemistry.. Oh dear, another expensive one to add to the ever growing list!

Hello and good morning, everyone. Haven’t been around for a few days–I’ve been sleeping erratically, worried by work, bothered by headaches, much exercised by organising research students, and just generally so much in my own head that I didn’t like to inflict myself on the human race. I can hardly believe it, but I walked past my perfume shelves for three days WITHOUT EVEN GLANCING AT THEM! Today, though, I’m dancing and prancing around (more like thumping and bumping, actually, but it’s my story and I have the telling of it!) in a light-hearted cloud of Apres L’Ondee. I hope it pleases my team: we are meeting all morning to plan lectures and assignments. The reality that teaching starts next week is suddenly urgent and vivid! And so to work…hope your days everywhere are beautiful and beautifully scented, NST.

Done in by a tray of feral chocolate chippies? Last weekend I made a Bakewell Cake with raspberry glace icing instead, and it was significantly less trouble than making chocolate chippies, but the dear man doesn’t like it. Well, that is, he’s forcing it down stoically, but I feel mean for not taking the trouble to bake him something he likes. I haven’t approached 19 again — just giving her time to calm herself and get over her snit. I think the weather is due to start cooling, and that may help.

About that mermaid bottle: I have it! My favourite category is oceanic so I just had to have it. Got it at Winners which is my favourite store because there’s no one there to help you, the bags are free, no dumb sale gimmicks or points card. It’d be perfect if they shut off the darn music so that I could hear myself think. The G of the Sea juice is divine but lasts for mere seconds on the skin. If only it were an EDP or even an extrait and I’d be in heaven.

Fundamentally I want to love leather (I salivated over the idea of Cuir d’Ange), but for the most part, leather hates me. Only really barely leathers work for me, Gold Leather, Black Saffron… so sad. Maybe someday… today I’m trying Impossible Iris. It smells fine enough, but no fireworks with this one.

Finished my week of roses Saturday; transitioned in Fils de Dieu yesterday; pulled out a sampling of leathers for this week. Reading the thread, I’m realizing I missed a bunch and can add more. I, too, associate leather with Autumn but our weather has taken a turn and after weeks of feeling like we’re on the cusp of spring it feels like winter is starting all over again. So I can easily trick myself into feeling like Fall.

I smell gorgeous in Hermes Cuir d’Ange. I was really stuffed up over the weekend and can smell again, which makes it doubly glorious. Love love love this stuff.

Testing a couple of the Herb Garden fragrances although I have to say, none of them are a love. I put on the two that seemed most appealing to me on a quick sniff–the Sorrel & Lemon Thyme and the Wild Strawberries & Parsley–and while both are fine enough, neither is making my heart sing. Will be curious to hear how others like them–it seems to me that they live up to their herbal billing (was bracing for herbal presence to be very minimized), and I’d think perfumistas will like that. Just bad luck, I think, that none of them really clicked for me.

I tried a few as well, and wasn’t bowled over. Definitely nice, definitely fit the bill of herbal notes, but not a match for me either. I do enjoy some Jo Malones, about 1/5 of their output is a match for my desires, so I do think that there will be plenty of ‘istas who these work well for. Looking forward to hearing more folks chime in 🙂

The line is interesting that way. Blackberry & Bay is true love for me, and then I also quite like Pom Noir, Dark Amber & Ginger Lily, and Wild Fig & Cassis–four fragrances to enjoy is pretty good! But…four of 70-odd releases is a pretty weak batting average! (In fairness I certainly have not tried all 70, so that might raise the average a little…but after so many that miss the mark, it can be hard to motivate to track them all down.)

I did a quickie sniff of them at Macy’s today and liked the sorrel lemon one the best. I couldn’t smell it on my hand anymore by the time I left the store. All perfectly pleasant and light, but $70 for those small bottles didn’t seem worth it to me.

I sniffed all of them briefly at Neiman Marcus and none really stood out enough to get skin time. All of them seemed nice, though, and probably worth giving a more thorough test. Personally, I’d have liked an even bigger herb bouquet, but maybe I was just hungry.

Oh that’s interesting to hear–yes I should admit, aromatic is not my favorite fragrance genre so “pretty herbal” to me may be “not herbal enough” to others!! (Am very pro-spices, less pro-herbs.) I was surprised there were any that appealed to me in this group for that reason, but maybe it is to say they are not super-herbal.

Vintage Diorella, YSL Paris, Vamp à New York, PdN New York, Sacrebleu, Nicolaï pour Homme, Cristalle EDT, Eau de Guerlain.

Amoureuse, Havana Vanille, Traversée du Bosphore, I have a back up of because I could get them dirt cheap, and they are fragrances that I love, and wear quite frequently. I’m halfway through my first bottle of Amoureuse.

      Probably I should.

Wow, now that would be a project. I have a bar fridge and the large crisper drawer of the main fridge filled with bottles. And that doesn’t count the duplicates I have in my two residences. It’s bad.

I know I have five or six leathers, maybe more, but I don’t want a leather week. It is supposed to be unseasonably warm and spring-like here, and all I want lately are florals. Today I’m wearing Une Fleur de Cassie.

I’ve been craving florals a lot, too and actually gave my Cassie a sniff this morning before I opted for some jasmine. You smell terrific, and maybe I’ll wear that one this week.

I do not deliberately seek out leather fragrances but many that I love feature it as a prominent note. A little Cabochard for me today. I have a little bottle of the Anniversary edition and I have made a decision to not regret what Cabochard might have once been and just enjoy what she is now.

Wearing Dior Addict, the 2002 version from a partial bottle I snagged on ebay. The bottle is messy looking but dang it smells so good. Deep balsamic notes, jasmine, bourbon vanilla. The dry down is spectacular, too, all sandalwood and benzoin.
Need all this to boost me through the day. Monday Monday.

It’s good to see everyone back today! I’m back too, but so jetlagged there is not enough coffee in the world.

Balenciaga Paris for a lovely spring day. Smells good. As do you all.

I’m kicking off leather week with Angel Parfums du Cuir. If it weren’t right there in the name, I’d say it’s probably a little bit of a stretch to call it a “leather” fragrance (it is there and tempers the sweetness but isn’t a prominent, distict note in itself). But I like it and don’t wear it much, so I decided it would be day 1.

Mostly wearing 31 Rue Cambon, with a couple of test spritzes from Jo Malone’s herb collection.

The JM herbs are nice – fresh and light, as one would expect. I did not buy one on the spot though *pats self on back*. Did walk away with samples of Nasturtium & Clover and Carrot Flower & Fennel for further consideration.

Thanks for commenting on that one, I just ordered a sample of it today. Luca Turin’s review on Style Arabia said he got a lot of iris and basically no amber. It sounds great at any rate.

I barely had time for lunch today so chiming in late with SOTD. Like many, I will be a leather or (my beloved) pleather week or weeks. Also note that any amount of leather or “leather”‘stand-in is fair game.

    SOTD = Kelly Caleche Extrait

I would consider this a powdery floral leather. It is a much deeper concentration than the EDP although still not too overtly leatherish but it’s there.

I tried Kelly Caleche EDP Friday, and I didn’t get much leather from it. In fact the main note I was able to find was grapefruit, which I actually quite liked. That surprised me. I don’t like grapefruit.

Super-late tonight, I think the party is over.
Un Air de First for me tonight. Something I’d completely forgotten that I even had…what a nice reminder. So nice for this “shoulder” kind of day, still a chill in the air but with a hint that spring is just around the corner. This is just the smell of that.

I love leathers, so I’ll get started on that tomorrow, when it’s supposed to be cooler again, with cold rain.

Today I took a quick sniff of Eris Ma Bete, with seems promising. Now I’m wearing Xerjoff XXY, which I do quite like though not enough to pay $685 for it, even with the real lapis lazuli label. Fortunately, my imaginary cat gave me two of the generous Xerjoff exploration sets for Christmas a few years ago, so I have a lifetime supply of Xerjoff (at a very reasonable price per ml).

I can’t do a leather week–I can only think of four perfumes with leather that I like, and I only have two of them. SOTD is Cartier Baiser Vole Essence de Parfum. I feel pretty, oh so pretty….
