Amouage Lilac Love ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 16 February 2016 17 Comments

Amouage Lilac Love

Amouage has launched Lilac Love, a new fragrance for women.

Lilac Love, the first fragrance in Amouage’s The Secret Garden Collection. The fragrance captures the true spirit of classical femininity in the modern woman.

The Secret Garden is a collection of intricate feminine fragrances, where feelings, thoughts, and experiences are freely explored without the complications of the contemporary world. “We are so busy trying to keep up with modernity that we sometimes forget about the simple and traditional things in life and ourselves,” explains Creative Director, Christopher Chong.

As the scent of the Lilac flower cannot be extracted, Lilac Love harmoniously recreates the lilac accord to express animalic and powdery tones with a melodious balance of jasmine and rose. The accord is delicately blended with top notes of gardenia, peony, and heliotrope. The floral scent is then refined with a gourmand heart of orris, cocoa bean, and tonka bean. The warm tone of sandalwood also lends its charismatic sensuality in the base, along with the suave richness of patchouli and soft facets of vanilla, creating a timeless floral symphony with a romantic musky veil.

Amouage Lilac Love is available now at Harrods in the UK, £260 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I would love a good lilac perfume, if only a decant. I hope this one is good. En Passant is a favorite at present.

I’m curious about this too, but something about the gourmand notes makes me a little nervous it would be too sweet for my liking.

Have not heard anything great about it. That bottle is gorgeous though.

The name, “Lilac Love,” sounds like a mall scent. I like the more aspirational names “Gold,” “Honor,” “Beloved,” etc.

I can forgive because of the stylish retro font on the box… but I agree it could have gone another direction entirely!

Agree. I didn’t like Beloved either though. Or Sunshine.

OH MY GOD. If this is done well, this could be the best fragrance ever. (En Passant runs a bit too “bready” for me sometimes)

I have not heard any such claims made for it so far. Someone in a poll here said it was close to Aerin Lilac Path.

My favorite lilac is Desarmant but I’ll try it if I see it

I have heard it is not a true lilac scent and it sounds like it will be too powdery for me, but will give it a sniff if it crosses my path. I doubt it will dethrone my Roja Dove Lilac extrait.

Oh, shoot. Now I want to smell a Roja Dove perfume! LOL! I really do need a real lilac perfume. I was hoping Purple Reign would be it, but it is not…

For a second I thought I was a goner, that I was going to finally break open the piggy bank for an Amouage. Then I read, “Cocoa bean…tonka bean…patchouli…vanilla…musky veil.” I have a feeling I’ll be more satisfied with Pacifica French Lilac. Because, really, all I want in a lilac perfume is a facefull of lilacs.

Take away the jasmine, rose, peony and gardenia and my wallet would be out in a heartbeat for a large, errrr, “sample’. Wait, I also want the packaging to be forest green even though none of the notes suggest green of any kind.

Just kidding, of course. For this to smell like lilac with the notes skewing gourmand, I imagine that the floral aspects would overwhelm me. I’ll be curious to smell this though if readily available at my usual haunts.

While it doesn’t sound very much like lilac, it does sound like a wonderful powdery floral gourmand which I’m totally intrigued to try! Adding it to my woefully sampled list of Amouages that I need to smell. I still don’t have one in my collection. Must rectify that. 🙂

Beautiful packaging & bottle, ridiculous price; I always got lilac from AG’s Grand Amour, of which I had a bottle the year after it was launched, but the notes list hyacinth as opposed to lilac.
