Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles (& some other stuff) 2016, part 1

Posted by Robin on 26 January 2016 30 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. Today's post includes collector editions from Guerlain, Hermès, Givenchy and Philosophy, plus a new Eau de Parfum concentration of Eau de Cartier.

Guerlain Le Bouquet de la Reine

From Guerlain, Le Bouquet de la Reine, which is reportedly the brand's Jasminora in a numbered collector bottle, €550 for 125 ml, to be sold by subscription with proceeds to benefit the restoration of the royal apartments at Château de Versailles. (via leparisien.fr, additional information via Monsieur Guerlain)

Terre d'Hermès H bottle

From Hermès, a 2016 variation on the brand's many 'H' bottles of Terre d'Hermès. Shown is a 50 ml bottle at Nocibe in France; a 100 ml version can currently be found at Sephora (also in France).

Givenchy Ange ou Démon 10th anniversary

From Givenchy, a special anniversary edition of Ange ou Démon: "Ange ou Démon celebrates its 10th anniversary by adorning its iconic bottle with a feminine and sensual lace. Reveal your inner seductress!" Size and concentration unknown. (via givenchybeauty)

Philosophy Amazing Grace 20th anniversary

From Philosophy, a 20th anniversary edition of Amazing Grace: "In honor of 20 amazing years of amazing grace, this spray fragrance is all decked out for its special day. Its amazingly clean and beautifully feminine fragrance features welcoming bergamot to greet the senses and a heart blossoming with soft and clean muguet. The fragrance leaves behind a lasting musk with an impression of classic beauty." $48 for 60 ml at Nordstrom.

Eau de Cartier Eau de Parfum

From Cartier, a new Eau de Parfum concentration of Eau de Cartier: "An eau for him and for her, so that each can sense the constant presence of the other. An eau with a clear freshness, an ode to simplicity. A sensual fragrance with vanilla, balsam and amber accents, combined with the freshness of a citrus accord." Available in 50, 100 and 200 ml. (via cartier)

I do enjoy looking at the pretty bottles, but then I wonder…Imagine if for a year the perfume industry was required to sell everything packaged the way the Chandler Burr Untitled series is packaged. (Due, of course, to a world-wide shortage of fancy glass and name labels 😉 ) I wonder what that would do to the sales rankings….

It is mighty pretty! But mighty expensive for Jasminora.

I have Jasminora. It’s a .25 oz. bottle that was free with a Sephora order years ago. I feel like I’ve won whatever ridiculous game this is that Thierry Wasser keeps throwing at us.

Hard to say, since the point seems to be the bottle! I say they should sell that bottle empty. Or, since they now have a store that sells empty bottles & fills them from fountains like Caron, why not let you pick your juice?

I second that motion. Now how shall we break the news to Guerlain? ????

Seriously, there always seems to be a mismatch between the best bottles and the juice. SL does a better job of matching special bottles to perfume, but the bottles I like best are not the perfumes I like best. That’s easier on the credit cards, though. 😉

It’s like Guerlain have a deliberate policy of enraging me.

I sometimes wonder if they could make split bottles … like a cleverly designed 60ml bottle divided down the middle. You could have a perfume and a flanker side by side (separate caps and nozzles) like Number 5 and No. 5 Eau Premiere, or two perfumes from the same house that can be layered, e.g. side by side Serge Lutens scents. I reckon it would be interesting from a consumer point of view but potentially work from a commercial point of view…if it led to consumers buying full bottles, later. Maybe?

Actually, I’m surprised this hasn’t been done yet. The layering trend seems to be back, so maybe. I have seen double ended rollerballs, but I always worried you’d contaminate either side with the other’s perfume when applying them over each other that way.

This has been done, I swear. Offhand can’t think of them yet, but I know I’ve seen it. Lower end something, will maybe come to mind 2 weeks from now 🙂

Ange ou Demon 2015 Le Parfum and Accord Illicite were for layering.

The 50-ml Histoires des Parfum bottles look like split 100-ml bottles. Not exactly the same idea.

The Cartier is making me laugh. Something about his and hers and sensing each others presence. My guy can sense my presence by the trail of light debris I am constantly surrounded with. …hair pins, yarn/needles, socks/boots/slippers/sandals, random clothing items, etc. I sense his presence by the empty food wrappers.
    🙂

Was it Gaultier 2 you are thinking of? The 2 bottles snapped together magnetically, but both were the same “unisex” scent.

No, it was something more low-end, maybe something celebrity. It was 2 bottles that IIRC were permanently attached in some way.

    Part 1 . . . Let the games begin!

I always smile as the number of “Bunch o’ limited edition” posts creeps ever higher throughout the year. I think there were 30 posts last year.
