It’s weird

Posted by Robin on 17 November 2015 8 Comments

It has been wholly embraced by the fashion flock and A-list celebrities alike (everyone from Alexa Chung and Emily Weiss to Justin Bieber and Emma Roberts wear it), and nearly everyone who follows them. As the GQ designer Griffin Funk recently tweeted, “At this point it’s weird if someone doesn’t smell like Le Labo Santal 33.”

When I went to try The Noir, I had brought a friend along and had her sniff some of the Le Labos. I actually didn’t spray a card for Santal (if you don’t have something nice to say….) but the SA insisted she try it. My friend didn’t enjoy it either. If I were to have guessed the best seller walking in without already knowing, I would never have picked Santal.

I have no idea if it’s actually their best seller (and I doubt it) or if it’s just been taken up by certain crowds, so to speak.

I could certainly be wrong but I believe it has surpassed Rose 31. They do the laundry detergent in it too, as well as the candle (which I think was first.) Either way it smells like a watery indecision, almost too fresh.

Ah, sounds like you’re paying more attention than I am…

Seems like an oddly specific fragrance to form a celebrity cult around.

I have not, in general, found that celebrities have better taste in fragrance than anybody else. They just have more money.

For me, this would be a reason to avoid this one. Am I alone in not wanted to smell my scent on people everywhere? #nomaam
