Fabulosity totally included

Posted by Robin on 2 November 2015 7 Comments

No, it's not about perfume, but I'd hate for anyone to miss the news. The Moschino Barbie will be for sale at Net-a-Porter later this month, at about $150, along with a "human-sized" capsule collection (items $225 - $1,595). More below the jump.

Per Moschino's creative director Jeremy Scott:

I wanted to bring all of the Moschino elements to Barbie, as I had done the reverse by bringing all of the Barbie elements to Moschino for the spring 2015 collection. The thing I love most about Barbie is that she is the ultimate muse, she’s worn every style and design imaginable and at the same time she’s had every possible profession you can dream of.

    1) There’s a dark skinned Moschino Barbie, so there’s that
    2) The girls are letting a boy play with them, so that’s cool
    3) This is really crazy

Yes on all counts! If anyone wants to see both Barbies, plus images of some of the collection, go here:

I just watched this three times in a row. And it brought back all my unfulfilled longing for that early-80s Barbie Dream House in the background.

LOL — I never managed to get my hands on that house either.

New designer philosophy a la Miss Jean Brodie: “Give me a child at an impressionable age and she is mine for life.”

Looking at video and pictures, is it possible that Barbie’s legs are even skinnier than before (ie the 60s)?

I know 1990s Barbie got a wider waist (somewhat) and smaller chest (somewhat), and later they gave Barbie a different waist-hip ratio (and they moved the joint from the waist to the hip) so she could wear low rise pants and crop tops. But no idea if they’ve changed her legs, and for that matter, don’t know if all Barbies have the same body now the way they used to.
