Cocoa 5 Senses Eau de Chocolat ~ new (edible) fragrance

Posted by Robin on 23 September 2015 21 Comments

Cocoa 5 Senses

Scent artist Peter de Cupere, in collaboration with Inge Lijnen and Patrick Mertens of Boon The Chocolate Experience in Belgium, has launched Cocoa 5 Senses Eau de Chocolat, a new chocolate perfume you can eat, bottle and all.

COCOA 5 SENSES Artist Peter de Cupere developed in cooperation with Patrick Mertens and Inge lijnen van Boon The Chocolate Experience a chocolate perfume bottle in the shape of a cocoa bean. In the chocolate perfume bottle you find the scent ‘Cocoa 5 Senses’, an ‘Eau de Cocoa’ which can be dispersed on the skin as an edible perfume. The starting point are the 5 senses. The shape and structure are observed by the sight and touch, the taste by the feast of the delicious Belgian fine chocolate and the smell in intensely discernible thanks to the ‘Eau de Cocoa’ with the name ‘Cocoa 5 Senses’. The sound of the crunch of the bottle between the teeth, but also the expression of the emotions complete the fifth sense. Besides this, the perfume bottle also symbolises the story of ‘Bean to Chocolate’. The design is based on the drawing ‘Scent of Cocoa’ of 2011 drawn and designed by Peter de Cupere.

Cocoa 5 Senses Eau de Chocolat is currently available at Boon The Chocolate Experience, and can be ordered at the Cocoa 5 Senses website starting on the 30th of this month. The cost for the large size (a 20 cm high bottle, which holds about 50 sprays) is €69.

Whaaaaaat. I’m so confused. You eat it, AND it holds 50 sprays?

I might be missing something too, but I think you use the perfume then you eat the bottle. I assume there is a plastic spray tube in there that you don’t want to eat.

It’s chocolate, that’s really all that matters.

Haha, true. I find it very odd though that the bottle is edible. I wonder if it would change the perfume much if you kept it for a long amount of time.

Yes…I have no information about shelf life, but would not be surprised if it is not so very long.

Move over edible bowl! This fills the hole left over by the Dessert Beauty line with the added bonus of leaving no evidence at the end.

maybe I don’t know what cocoa beans look like…(I don’t) but those look like mini ears of corn.

They do look sort of like corn when split open

I’m surprised they didn’t get trounced for likeness rights/trademark violations on that second one!

Why not just eat the most expensive chocolate you can get your hands on? While wearing a huge amount of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter? And baking brownies? And drinking a chocolate martini? ……………….
