Narciso Rodriguez For Her L’Absolu ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 4 August 2015 16 Comments

Narciso Rodriguez For Her L'Absolu

Narciso Rodriguez has launched Narciso Rodriguez For Her L'Absolu, a new variation on 2003's Narciso Rodriguez For Her.

This intense and enveloping fragrance captures the signature heart of musk in a voluptuous bouquet of jasmine. At the base, chypre patchouli and sandalwoods create an enchanting trail.

Additional notes include amberlyn.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her L'Absolu is available now at Sephora (for VIB Rouge customers only), in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I am expecting my bottle of this tomorrow. I really hope I like it. I just couldn’t resist the color of that bottle. I know I shouldn’t blind buy, but Sephora has an excellent return policy.

Let us know what you think. I’m pretty enticed by the color and the notes, so I really want this to be good!

I see the attraction of the bottle. And amberlyn sounds evocative — what is it?

      From the NST Perfume Glossary:

“Ambergris: a sperm whale secretion. Sperm whales produce it to protect their stomachs from the beaks of the cuttlefish they swallow. Ambergris was traditionally used as a fixative, but in modern perfumery, ambergris is usually of synthetic origin (including the synthetic compounds ambrox, ambroxan (see), amberlyn). Ambergris is described as having a sweet, woody odor.”

‘Ambergris’ sounds so much less femme!

It’s a synthetic amber aroma chemical. My usual vendor doesn’t sell it so I don’t know what it smells like. Probably sharper and woodier than true ambergris, like the ones I’ve smelled before.

Am I too late? Smelt this one alongside Narciso. No contest: Narciso is a creamy wood that lasts and lasts, while L’Absolu is another fade to Glade.

Tried this today. Didn’t get any jasmine at all, just patchouli and sandalwood that faded to a synthetic smell. Very disappointing, as For Her is one of my favorite fragrances and I would have loved to smell a jasmine take on that.

I love this, unexpectedly. I am getting lots of warm jasmine and what must be the amberlyn base note. The only NR scent I have liked at all – very FBW for me.
