Marc Jacobs Decadence ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 3 June 2015 20 Comments

Marc Jacobs Decadence

Marc Jacobs will launch Decadence, a new pillar fragrance for women, in September. Decadence will be fronted by "a barely clothed Adriana Lima rolling around on the floor in utter abandon".

Decadence was developed by perfumer Annie Buzantian. The notes feature plum, iris, saffron, rose, jasmine, amber, vetiver and papyrus.

Marc Jacobs Decadence will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml.

Update: the description from Marc Jacobs..."Marc Jacobs Decadence is a sensual, luxurious, woody fragrance, embodying the spirit of irreverent glamour. The fragrance opens with sultry top notes of Italian plum, iris flower, and saffron. The heart opens with luxurious notes of Bulgarian rose, jasmine sambac, and orris. The indulgent dry down reveals the base notes of vetiver, papyrus woods, and liquid amber. The cap features a gold chain and deep green python print...Magnets secure the cap to the green bottle so that the entire package can be carried by the chain."

Oh my! Digging the notes and the green, it’s my thing, but I don’t know why I’m not going crazy over the purse design. We shall see!

Oh, and I was totally thinking a gourmand with the name, but by the look of the notes, nope.

I am really disliking the purse design. Cute idea, but if it was a purse, I would not carry it.

Yeah, I won’t be mad at him if he sticks with the cutsy vinyl stuff. Haha!

The Mod Noir bottle is great though…

But they do not seem to be making a big deal about Mod Noir.

Oh yeah, I covet that bottle! And yeah! It’s weird! No body products or face in the advertisement. It sounds really nice, so I don’t know what the deal is. It’s funny, I had completely forgotten about it! There’s literally been no fuss. Poor Mod Noir. Haha.

Poor Adriana Lima. I read that, and the image of my catnip-crazed cat rolling on the floor sprang to mind.

No Mod Noir in UK because it’s a Sephora only product. We no longer have Sephora – sigh. Agree on Decadence that the bag design looks impractical as a bottle but plum and saffron sounds interesting to me.

Ah, maybe that is why there is no fuss about it…

There’s another fragrance Jacobs came out with recently, isn’t there? Besides this one and Mod.
Unfortunately, the only one of his that I enjoy is the original, MJ Woman, and that’s probs because of the main gardenia note.
This purse design is quite odd and looks totally impractical for applying perfume. I can understand a designer wanting to set himself apart from the rest of the pack, but, well, this just ain’t cutting it.

Don’t know of anything else recent other than flankers.

I’m guessing that what looks like the black “flap” has the chain attached, that it’s actually a cap, and that whole thing comes off to expose the sprayer, so you aren’t lugging all that stuff around when you go to spray yourself. But I don’t know. The original Opium parfum bottle had the stopper attached to the bottle by a tasseled cord, literally attached to it, so even if that is a flap and not a removable cap, this design doesn’t seem so strange.

Darn, now when you tell someone you carry perfume in your purse, you have to qualify it to say “but it’s not Decadence”. The notes sound good and the acqua looks very nice.

Also want to add that I stopped by Sephora to check out Mod Noir. The bottle is to die for CUTE. The perfume is neither mod nor noir.

Well… if we have to see people rolling around on the floor with utter abandonment, then we cpild do a lot worse than Adriana Lima! I just wish that at least they throw a nice blanket or rug if the floor is tok harsh 😉

Now jokes aside, that bottle reminds me of some of the mini handbags my aunt used to use in the late 70s to attend weddings and other gown-required events.

And it reminds me of one of the opium bottles too.

I hope it is goood!! 🙂

Just tried this today in a drugstore. Very “meh” to me. It seemed indistinguishable from the many department store scents. It reminded me of the scents I smell on a few women at work, and they are not wearing Decadence. Did like the bottle, however. Has anyone else tried it?

I have not tried it yet, but I think Jessica is going to review it soon.
