Guerlain Mon Exclusif ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 11 May 2015 15 Comments

Guerlain Mon Exclusif

Guerlain has launched Mon Exclusif, a new fragrance with no official name. Customers can use metallic letter stickers to give the fragrance the name of their choice,* or can have the bottle engraved.

Notes for the oriental fougère include mandarin, bergamot, sugared almond, lavender, solar accord, iris, white musk, sandalwood and toffee.

Guerlain Mon Exclusif is available at Guerlain in France, in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, €130.

(via guerlain, Monsieur Guerlain at Facebook)

*Stickers were also used to personalize Mon Habit Rouge Taillé sur Mesure.

So…you’re supposed to feel like this is an exclusive scent made just for you, because you name it yourself? Ha! My inner plebeian couldn’t care less. Points for originality, I suppose. Sounds really sweet though, with the sugared almonds and toffee notes.

All true! Also not much space on that bottle front to add anything more than initials. Do like the bottle though — and it’s cheaper than the Coque d’Or reissue!

Ooooo, stickers! I’m so excited because I’m only 8 years old and I loooooooooove stickers.

Can you feel the sarcastic tone come through? Seriously Guerlain, what a disappointment. When did you stop being a french perfume icon and become like Hello Kitty? Ok, nice bottle just as it is, leave it alone.

Ha…I was surprised when they did stickers with the Habit Rouge too. Maybe they do it all the time, I don’t know.

Yuck! A fougere with toffee and almonds…. I know I’m a broken record…but I should check and see if Wasser has added white musk to Eau de Cologne Impériale yet.

I do not think any new fragrances are released now without white musk…even when they don’t mention it in the notes, it’s in there.

This does sound yuck. I’d name it La Vie Est Belle’s Evil Sister but not enough room. Perhaps I’d name it Ce Pue, there may be enough room for that.

The elegance of the iconic art deco bow-tie bottle is undone by that puffy spherical cap.

Not to mention the stickers! Although I guess you could refuse to adhere them, but refusal to cooperate may bring the sticker police to your door 😉

Guerlain has a brand history of engraving items. It has previously been available,at some locations and on special dates, for its fancy lipstick packaging (silver metal with mirror). Actual engraving on the glass used to be offered for perfume extraits.
Stickers just don’t do it for me.
Atalier Colgne has a rather elegant leather engraving service available for its travel sizes.

I can’t help it: the bottle reminds me of Bonbon perfume bottle, which isn’t a compliment. As for stickers… Really classy, what can I say…

Yikes, that is one twee bottle!

I feel like Guerlain fragrances are becoming sweeter and sweeter… I like a good gourmand myself, but this sounds like it would give me olfactory cavities.

Guerlain is really going all out on sweet perfumes these days. Also, I’m so old that this label it yourself thing made me think of the lousy ‘Label Baby’ label maker that gets re-gifted in Seinfeld.

I do love that bottle though.
