Friday scent of the day 5/8

Posted by Robin on 8 May 2015 311 Comments

Guerlain Shalimar, Baccarat

Welcome to Bottle Porn Friday! Our community project for today: wear something you bought in part or in full because of the bottle, or a fragrance you think has a beautiful (or otherwise perfect) bottle.

As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you're not participating in the community project.

I'm wearing L'Artisan Ananas Fizz, from the original pineapple-top bottle. It will be perfect for the hot weather we're expecting today.

Reminder: next Friday, 15 May, will be Fake Flanker Friday — wear a perfume that doesn't have a flanker but should, and tell us what the flanker should be called and what it should smell like.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

The obvious choices in my collection are the Lolita Lempickas, Idole de Lubin EDT, and Kenzo Amour Le Parfumeur, all of which are a bit much on a hot day. So I went with Smell Bent Sweet Tyranny, with its very unique cartoonized bottle. It’s a warm iris, sort of like Parfumerie Generale’s.

Had to go look that up… Smell Bent calls it a “creamsicle iris,” which sounds interesting (though not really up my alley). That is a fun bottle!

So jealous about the Idole EdT!
It was on my to-buy list for too long and when I decided to get it, it was gone. I’m really not a fan of the edp bottle. Yuck!

When I heard Idole was discontinued, I finally panicked and bought it for the bottle. There perfume is unusual and interesting, but would not have bought an FB except for the wonderful bottle.

I couldn’t go with bottle porn today (Idole, Galaad, Heritage, etc) and instead went for Scent of Peace for Him (Bn9).

Some of my favorite bottles that I own include Mariella Burani, DK Black Cashmere (in the pebble bottle), TC Alahine, and Penhaligon’s Violetta. However, today it’s Chamade parfum from that upside-down heart bottle. So beautiful – bottle and juice.

It’s the older one, I should have said – squared off glass, not round metallic. The current ones don’t look NEARLY as nice, at least in pictures.

Oh, gosh, I forgot about Marielle Burani and Chamade when I did my list below! I wish that I had a back up bottle of MB – I’d probably wear it more often. As it is, I horde the 1 oz I have left!

I love my Fleurs de Rocaille parfum bottle, but I don’t have it with me. So I’m wearing Silences, which I bought despite the bottle. 😉

The old Silences bottle isn’t quite so bad… the top comes off. It’s not the integrated sprayer thing on the newer bottle, which is really awkward to hold and spritz at the same time.

(I just looked – I’ve got four black/very dark bottles, despite not liking black much: 80s Silences parfum de toilette, modern Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime, L’arte di Gucci, and Memoir Woman. I don’t really like any of the bottles, but that didn’t stop me buying these.)

My SOTD is Essences Insensées by Diptyque. I did not buy it for the bottle, but it is a fancy bottle. This stuff is limited edition. I love it and I think that I need a backup bottle (that I would keep in the fridge, of course).

Scent twins! I bought it for both the bottle and the fragrance inside. It’s lovely on both counts. I get lots of mimosa and honey, and a fleeting bit of spice.
As with most L’Artisans, its lasting power is negligible, but it’s so beautiful while it lasts. plus, it was a gift. 🙂

Love the Ananas Fizz bottle, too!

I get mimosa, some spice, and a tiny bit of violet. It’s green and creamy, too. It doesn’t last long, but it is so beautiful and brings me so much joy that it was worth the price.

I want a bottle of Ananas Fizz, even if it is in the plain bottle. But, yeah the pineapple topped bottle is very cool!

SOTD is Rossy de Palma. I didn’t buy it for the bottle by any stretch, but I do love the bottle — DRAGONS!

But while I’m here can I complain that my ELDO bottles tend to get sticky sprayers? Like it’s hard to depress the atomizer. Anyone else have this issue?

I haven’t had any sticky sprayers with ELDO yet and I have 3 or 4. I did have a leak from the Rossy de Palma bottle in the coffret I got. The one bottle that I have that constantly gets a sticky sprayer is John Varvatos Artisan. That darn thing spits at me like a camel.

Somehow i woke up early this morning and haven’t been able to go back to sleep. Very unusual for this night owl (hate going to bed, hate getting up in the morning).

Anyway! Bottle porn Friday. I am picky about bottles, but i usually buy based on juice. The bottles i have purchased based on bottle design have been vintage splash bottles that have long since turned. Love sleek, understated designs. Another reason Chanel appeals to me, ha.

Today it is a toss up between DK Cashmere Mist Liquid Nude, for the pretty color and gentle lines. Feels nice in the hand, easy to hold.
Alternate is Chanel no. 5 eau premiere, tall bottle. Or Beige with its magnetic top that snaps so satisfyingly into place.
Or Infusion d’iris, love all the special design touches on that one.
    Hmmm.

“Nice in the hand” is probably more important to me than “easy on the eyes.” Both are subordinate to “smells great,” though.

I’m in Chanel 28 La Pausa.

I was also going to mention the magnetic top on the Exclusifs bottles! It has such a satisfying, heavy ‘snap’ when it clicks back into place – with the double C logo always the right way round. And the huge 200ml bottle still manages to look elegant.

I don’t usually care at all about bottles, but I have to admit that the solid feel of this one (and yes, the snap of the lid) add to the sensory pleasure of spraying this on. It feels like a truly luxurious experience 🙂

Told myself I’d wear Patou 1000 with it’s jade green bottle, but couldn’t face it in New Orleans humidity where I’m visiting family.

First stop, Saks fragrance dept. Several major changes: Annick Goutal is gone (available NYC & online only). But they now have a full Chanel boutique (finally got to try Coromandel!), and expect to get an Hermes boutique in July or August.

Have a great Mother’s Day all.

French Bourbon is the one I *haven’t* been to…Hove is the other one in the French Quarter, both selling their own products. Avery Perfumes retails niche lines in an area not far from the French Quarter. Dragging family to sniff sessions is a challenge, and they seem to think I may be abducted to Mars if I travel alone. You’d think I was 110.

Well, I don’t seem to have any fancy bottles. Most are pretty utilitarian. hmmm, interesting. Actually I really love my travel size bottle of Tocca Collette. Even the sprayer is miniature and it is such a sweet little oblong bottle, a little reminiscent of the old style “umbrella” shaped bottles with the girly rounded Tocca cap. I think I will wear that one today!

Black Orchid!) but I’m in vintage Montana Parfum de Peau because Serge Mansau is perhaps the greatest bottle designer ever (greater than Lalique? Maybe) and that bottle is some kind of genius. It’s so evocative: it was inspired by a twirling maple seed but it’s also like a spiral of DNA or an abstract Dance if the Seven Veils. So amazing.

I don’t know what it might have been reformulated into now but when it was new, the scent was astounding, a huge eighties floral oriental that somehow didn’t seem heavy or overbearing (it wasn’t Obsession, let’s put it that way). And it honestly didn’t read as feminine: maybe not quite unisex, but more than wearable by a man.

The original Dali was a knockout oriental. I had a mini nose when I was in high school. I looved that fragrance! But I haven’t smelled it in years.

SOTD is La Fille de Berlin. I like the standard simple SL bottle with the magenta juice, but I’d love to have this one: http://www.cosmeticsbusiness.com/news/article_page/Picasso_inspires_Serge_Lutens_latest_scent_La_Vierge_de_Fer/89703

Also, I used the last of my sample of LFdB. I now need a full bottle.

I really love the simple lines of the Lutens export line bottles. Bvlgari Black and the Comme des Garçons pebble are simple and attractive. (especially the CdG 3)
The two bottles that I love though are Héros from Uomo Parfums/Didier Calvo (THE original greek torso bottle) and I Distillati Anima Vibrante from Atkinson (a perfect brown glass “drop”). Since both are rich Frankincense fragrances, I’m not wearing them today.
    Instead, I’m wearing L’eau de L’Artisan

I have never bought a fragrance based on the bottle design. That being said, I do have some bottles that I think are fun or appropriate to their scent. For example Bvlgari Black’s bottle looks like a tire, and is totally appropriate with the slight rubber vibe the scent has. Some bottles are almost too much trouble. For example, when I wore a Kenzo Eau de Fleur earlier this week I had a hard time spraying it because of the shape of the bottle. I love the Tocade and Tocadilly bottles, they are so much fun, and in fact am wearing Tocadilly today. One scent I kind of bought for the bottle was Cheap & Chic. I loved the Olive Oyl shaped bottle. Unfortunately the fragrance smell like hair spray from the ’80s.

Three contenders today: Jour d’Hermes (thank you meredifay!!!!!), No. 22 (I’m so with you, nebbe), and Kouros.

“What, Kouros,” you ask? My brother had a 10-liter bottle in the eighties. (I was smaller then, so adjust proportionately). I can still see it looming overhead in the bathroom. He must have placed it out of my reach for good reason, since I did enjoy playing Chemistry Set with my mother’s perfumes until she found out.

That bottle epitomized the thrilling mystery of a much older brother who, I was sure, possessed all of the Secrets of Adulthood, secrets that the actual adults could not fathom.

I bet they couldn’t fathom all that Kouros. But, now, I can.

I went for Marni. Such a cute bottle. I have the 30ml one too, which is just perfect.

Iris Nazarena. I didn’t buy it *just* for the bottle, but I love the look of the Aedes bottles (they’re a bit awkward to spray though), and I wouldn’t mind having all of them, one in every color… but this is the only scent I’ve liked enough to spring for more than a travel spray. Copal Azur is close, though, and it does have that lovely cobalt blue bottle…

I just bought Lolita Lempicka L’Eau En Blanc for the bottle because I collect the apples. I was afraid the juice would be way too powdery after reading the reviews on Fragrantica but I am delighted that it is not heavily powdery and is effervescent when it comes out of the bottle!

A few fragrances in my current rotation have bottles I dearly love:

    The smooth almost pebble-sized flat blue bottle of vintage Worth Je Reviens extrait that slips into its own midnight blue sueded leather case and fits neatly in the palm of one’s hand, its deep blue elegance indicative of the somewhat melancholy fragrance within;

    The classic Balmain Vent Vert (early 90’s Calice Becker reform), its straight lines balanced by its jaunty bright green tilted cap and perky polka dot bow, its green juice and strong letters seemingly in motion, all facets of the bottle expressing so beautifully the essence of this scent;

And today’s choice, Anne Flippo’s 2002 creation, Trussardi Skin. Its sleek translucent columnar bottle topped in soft yellow and ending in an unusual shaped bottom in green, fits beautifully in the hand. I like the artistry of my bottles to reflect the scent that lies within, and the luminescence of this container suits the slightly lemony topnote that settles into the cedar-patchouli-mossy-woody bottom that hugs the skin so beautifully and is so aptly named. One of my very favorite spring ‘me but just a little bit more’ fragrances!

Unrelatedly, I want to give a HUGE shout out and heartfelt thank you to SunnyDay. In our last swap meet, she sent something that never made it to me (grrrr, post office). She then took it upon herself to send out ANOTHER entire package, which I got last night. It is fantastic, and included a sample of Sycomore which was one of the things I most wanted to try. I’m trying to justify needing yet another vetiver scent….Anyway, she is THE BEST, and an all around lovely person. Thank you, thank you!

So hard to choose today. As so many before me, I don’t buy for the bottles, but there are some that are more appealing than others. I love a lot of the classic bottles…especially the beautiful little Chanel perfume bottles. Also love the classic Guerlain bottles so it might be a l’Heure Bleue. It isn’t “fancy” but the 24 Faubourg bottle is so very pretty. Also adore the Eau des Merveilles bottles, just magical.

The stately great houses clearly put together the aesthetic that turns my crank.

Eau des Merveilles in the LE blue Pegasus bottle. I first fell in love with the perfume after taking it for a test drive by sampling at a local Nordstroms. As I was researching it, I came across a reference to the limited edition bottle. When I saw the photo online, I was a goner.

I stalked the Bay until I found a tester for a very good price and Shazam! I scooped it up and have given it some serious love. We will never be parted, even after all the juice is gone 🙂

I don’t buy perfume for the bottles, but with that said, I had two great choices for today: Chamade parfum or Vol de Nuit parfum. I dug the Chamade out of the purgatory box (it’s on the auction block) to give it yet another chance. Turns out it was a mistake. For some reason, my love of several years has become an orange juice after toothpaste experience. It makes me sad as I do love that bottle.

    Happy Friday all!

lol! In all things, I guess! Over the years, I’ve found my tastes moving more to center – last winter I sold off my very sweet scents (Iris Ganache, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, etc.) but at the same time the bitter greens don’t seem to work any more either. Hmm… now that I think about like that, I realize I’m moving back to where I began many, many years ago.

I’ve never really cared for sweet fragrances. I was historically an oriental gal. But now I find myself moving farther into dry greens and classic chypres. Although I do still love Chamade.

Wearing VCA Midnight in Paris., and that is a beautiful bottle. The only bottle I just bought for the shape was a mini of the JPG snow globe perfume. I also bought my then-favourite Dioressimo in an amphora, and that was the only time I bought the parfum. And of *course* I still have the bottle!

I am curious about Midnight in Paris, as I’ve seen it around at a very good price (boxed! therefore haven’t seen the bottle yet). So, now I know that the bottle is gorgeous. What about the scent? The NST review suggests that it fades to the tonka pretty quickly and stays there. What do you experience?

Nectarine Blossom and Honey. I would really like to own one the limited edition lace bottles that are coming out in May. Now that I finally own a full bottle of a Jo Malone (French Lime Blossom) I realized that there is something aesthetically appealing to me in its size, weight and shape. With that extra touch of filigree to decorate it I would be ecstatic to have it grace my dresser.

I was particularly tempted by Infusion d’Iris Absolue and l’Ambre des Merveilles this morning, but they didn’t feel right for the day. I looked right past Marni, too. But I chose Jour d’Hermes, and I do love this bottle. It is so satisfyingly dense (such a contrast to the scent), and I like the little touch of the name showing through from the back side of the glass. I find it a bit hard to hold and spray, but it doesn’t lessen my love for the bottle. And my little mini splash is so adorable!

My SOTD is Emilio Pucci Vivara, which is bang on the money (to me) in terms of “great bottle/so-so scent.” I love the flat, smooth shape of the bottle and the way it feels in my hand. I love the design of the cap, with it’s classic Pucci-style swirls of lime green, purple, and soft blue. I don’t reach for it often (and today was the perfect reason to), but when I do I smile looking at the bottle.

Other bottles I sigh over but don’t own: Armani Prive Eau de Jade, Tom Ford Private Blend Jasmine Rouge and Neroli Portofino (I’m a sucker for reds and greens), and Cartier La Panthere (I want a FB of this!).

I cannot remember the exact name but not that long ago Sephora sold a few of the Emilio Puccis and one really captured my heart. I believe it was Sole 149 or 491 (and the name was much, much longer). It was a citrus with a tomato leaf note and I drained the sample but never bought a full bottle. I could kick myself for it quickly went out of production and wasn’t even to be found on discount perfume websites. Last I checked there was a bottle on e-bay for close to three hundred.

My curiosity got the better of me so after some research it was Pucci Viara Varianzioni Sole 149 from 2009 with notes of tomato leaf, galbanum, Sambac jasmine, patchouli and vetiver. I think I was so taken with it because it reminded me a bit of Folavril and the sunny lemon cap with the swirl design was so visually appealing.

I’d love to get my hands on a sample of Folavril soon. I’m a fan of tomato leaf.

I’ve got quite a few to choose from and went with JAR Golconda in the vintage Baccarat bottle. It came nestled inside a wooden crate filled with dried mini rosebuds.

The one I bought purely for the bottle and haven’t smelled as yet is a mini of Niki de Saint Phalle.

I got the vintage version and the bottle and packaging are extraordinary. The “normal” ones have bottles that look like the middle slice of a light bulb were you to cut it in thirds from bulb to base; a velvet pouch and a sturdy cardboard box with a white luminescent overwrap wth metallic trim complete the ensemble.

There are two fragrances I purchased 100% for their bottles. One is Katy Perry’s Purr, which despite how much I enjoy the purple cat with the rhinestone eyes, I find the fragrance totally unwearable–even for an NST challenge. The other was a very old bottle of Nueva Maja Myrurgia which has pride of place on my vanity….but the juice is long gone.

SOTD = Oriza L Legrand Muguet Fleuri, which I am wearing because I love LOTV, and I think this one is a great version of the scent. But I also love those Edwardian/Are Nouveau labels that this house puts on their bottles, and when I use up my sample of this scent, I will buy a full bottle, and be happy to have the bottle as well as the juice. The Houbigant Iris des Champs bottles have perfect labels on them. Recently I notice I am attracted to bottles with gold, and I find the Geurlain Encens Mythique d’Orient bottle and also the Memo Quartier Latin bottle are both enchanting. I have both of these on my list of samples to acquire soon. Finally, I lust after the little colored bottle which Mohur Extrait comes in, as well as the wonderful juice itself. I am hoarding my sample of this. I could make this be my signature scent and wear it all the time.
Except when it is time to wear LOTV, of course….

    Hey Fragrants,
I am at the moment torn between Botrytis and Angel… I am not keen on putting on Angel, it is my nostalgia scent nowadays, not me anymore, but that bottle has bought me almost ten years ago and I have yet to find one I enjoy holding that much. I have 13 different empties of it, and some has something left. I gotta tell you, sometimes i just line them up and keep sighing… Now THAT is bottle porn if anything! 🙂
Okay, Botryris. That is the second best bottle, but loving that thick honey wrap as well. So does it count?
I find myself disliking bigger bottles, so for me, the smaller and cuter the better. I have a thing for minis evidently, which I think comes from my dollhouser past, so my minis are a whole another question. Niki de Saint Phalle, anyone?
I also love the Encre Noir ph bottle.
    But still,tonight is Botrytis.
    Have a lovely weekend!

I don’t think I’ve ever bought just for the bottle, but I do have a Constellation bottle of Eau de Merveilles. Got lucky on ebay as the seller spelled one of the words worng, so nobody else bid on it and I got it super cheap! But that bottle is in the office and I am at home. What I’m wearing is the antithesis of bottle porn – CSP Vanille Mokha from a decant. And even if it were from the bottle, I don’t think anyone likes those metal canisters! Have never bought a frag just for the bottle, though I do love Vol de Nuit’s, among others. If you look at the Lalique scents on the NM site, they have a couple of beautiful offerings, esp the crystal bottle for the extrait de parfum and the fleur de cristal limited ed flacon. Really have no interest in the brand’s scents, but talk about bottle porn!
The Kilian bottles from 2008 (saw them on Fragrantica) hand painted by Sophie Matisse are incredibly lovely–can’t imagine the price they’d fetch now.

I’m spoiled for choice, because so many of my favorite scents come in my favorite bottles.

    1) Chanel no5, no19, no22, Bois des Isles and Cuir de Russie, all in the classic square Chanel bottle, which is my absolute favorite bottle.

    2) Bottega Veneta and BV Knot, both excellent shapes with deep, heavy glass bases.

    3) Folie de Rose and Ecume de Rose in Parfums Rosine’s frosted glass ovals with charming tassles.

And finally, the choice for today, Plus que Jamais in the Guerlain bee bottle. Perfect for a quiet, cloudy day.

I love those simple, substantial bottles. They remind me of Swedish art glassware, which I love for the same esthetic. Plus the BV bottles have the best spray mechanisms. They don’t belch, burp, or dribble, they just emit a firm, fine spray, easily controlled.

I had forgotten that nice BV heft, and now it sounds like just the thing…. I may not (consciously) buy perfumes for their bottles, but I think I can be influenced to *use* the perfume by its bottle.

I think there’s a logical conclusion in there somewhere about buying perfumes for their bottles.

I’m very embarrassed to admit it but, yes, I bought the Encre Noire eau de perfume in that crystal Lalique inkwell and, yes, the bottle is beautiful. It’s about was bottle-porny as I can get.

I also have the original cargo-cult-cum-tiki Idole de Lubin edt bottle.

However, it’s hit the 80s here in Chicago here so both of these would be a bit heavy for the heat. Therefore, I’m wearing the Comme de Garçons eau de parfum from 2011 in that faux reject bottle.

I’ve actually never bought a fragrance just b/c of the bottle, even though I have seen plenty of gorgeous bottles. I actually have a very small collection of beautiful glass, cut, pressed, colored, etc, fragrance bottles. I’ve always been attracted to beautiful bottles, even the ones that are not really practical. The two most unique, albeit, not expensive, fragrance bottles I have were both from different trips to Europe. The first, bought in a shop on Montmartre from a high school trip, is a small glass bottle with silver and crystal embellishments on the front. I used to keep some of my Fragonard “Mimosa” in it when I was young. The other bottle is blue pressed glass with a brass & glass stopper and I bought it on the Charles Bridge from some street vendor when I was in Prague during study abroad in college. Ok, so all this happened nearly 30 years ago! I’ll get out of my way back machine now.

The most beautiful bottles I currently own and wear are Shalimar extrait, Ralph Lauren Safari, Oscar de la Renta Esprit d’Oscar, MPG Secrete Datura (original nymph one), and Diptyque Essences Insensees. Unless the austere classic Chanel bottle counts too, and I have a bunch of those from No 5, NO 19, Coco, Bois des Iles, etc, and of course there are the iconic Annick Goutal bottles. I have a bunch of them, as well as one of the round “moon” Songes edp bottles and the unusual “bag” shaped glass stoppered bottle for Ce Soir ou Jamais edp. Today I’m wearing Essences Insensees.

So that ‘bag’ is made of glass? All this time I thought it was the usual bottle in a bag, and I couldn’t figure out why ALL the photos showed the bag.

I’m not sure we’re on the same page. The gold lame bags are indeed what covers the classic Goutal ribbed bottle with the edps. The old Ce Soir ou Jamais edp “special” bottle is glass that is carved to look like a pouch. Follow this link and you’ll see the pix. (Apparently there is also a baccarat crystal version of this as well!)

SOTD is Eau de Rochas. I didn’t buy it because of the bottle, but I love the texture of it and how the cap feels in my hand. And I love the way it smells.

I have a mini of Pino Silvestre – it’s shaped like a pine cone and I love it. I also have a mini of Sonia Rykiel that’s shaped like a sweater.
I don’t usually buy scents because of the bottle, but there are some I won’t buy because of the bottle – Womanity comes to mind…

I keep wanting to like the Armani Onde series because of the bottles, but the descriptions don’t’ thrill me and the scents are not cheap enough yet to buy unsniffed.

Here’s my sad bottle story: I bought Van Cleef and Arpels Feerie on a sale sight purely on the bottle without doing my usual due diligence. It looks like a big blue sapphire and has a little fairy on a branch on the cap…it was too crazy to pass up. It was reviewed here so check it out under reviews if you’re unfamiliar. Unfortunately I did not care for the scent. It was way too fruity berry for me and every time I wore it I just thought of walking past Bath and Body Works. You know how you walk past it at the mall and it’s not unpleasant but you just know if you stick around too long it will give you a headache? It was like that but in a bottle. Like I said, no due diligence. I ended up giving it away to a friend’s teenage daughter and she loves it. Today I am wearing EL Bronze Goddess because they change the bottle year to year and for whatever reason I really get a kick out of that.

Oh, that IS a fruity one, Yikes.

They have flankers, which show up fairly often on the discounters. None of them are All That, but they’re better than the original.

I am so disappointed that they never did a green one.

After commenting yesterday on the new Hiris bottle, nice and Hermes hefty, not blue frosted but see through, for some reason I looked at the back of the bottle and discovered the cutest drawing on the back of the label, a sort of iris butterfly fairy. For the moment my favourite bottle with the typical Hermes hidden fun.

Big ol’ Bottle Ho checking in here…. I’d say fully half my bottles were bought for looks alone, and the tackier the better! (Not surprisingly, I have found that the juice in said bottles is also tacky more often than not )

Having so many to choose from was problematic, so I ultimately just went for the house which is a veritable Temple of Tackiness, and narrowed it down to Couture La La.

To me, it smells like a hot iron on a blouse you’re touching up that still has a trace of perfume lingering on it from the last time you wore it. I don’t think it’s quite as loud as its sisters, at least not to me.

And while we’re on the subject of bottles, can anyone confirm that the bottle of L’Artisan Rose Privee is not as pretty IRL as it looks in the pictures? Someone told me that the roses are not actually painted on the bottle….

Vintage Nahema PdT from the beautiful round bottle with the crystal stopper. This is literally the only one I bought just for the bottle because, um, I already had a perfectly good tester bottle from the 80s. But when a friend decided to sell off her classic round bottle for a good price, I jumped at the chance. After all, it is one of my favorite fragrances and, well, THE BOTTLE.

Since the subject is bottle porn, which suggests pure fantasy, I thought I’d post some pictures of truly sublime bottles I will never own (or probably see in real life), but nevertheless…

First prize goes to Agonist for: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Agonist/Liquid-Crystal-11010.html

Second prize also to Agoinist for: http://www.globalblue.com/destinations/sweden/stockholm/a-must-have-fragrance-from-swedish-perfumery-agonist/

Third prize to Killian, (and thanks to Johanob to bringing this beauty to my attention): http://www.globalblue.com/destinations/sweden/stockholm/a-must-have-fragrance-from-swedish-perfumery-agonist/

And I am wearing Habanita Edp, which is as close to owning a Lalique as I will probably ever get 🙂 Lovely matte black glass with the classical Lalique designed frieze on it. Added bonus – its not so $$$$ that I am terrified of picking it up.

Other favored bottles in my collection: Encre Noire (Homme) and Concentree Orange Verte. I actually love all the coloured Hermes cologne bottles – and if I was to buy largely for the visual effect I would have the full series of these lined up on my dresser!

I have a couple of perfumes that I bought because I really liked the bottle and in most cases I knew before the purchase that I liked the juice too. They are:

Fifi Chachnil – I liked (but did not love) the perfume, but I just had to have the pink bottle with the bulb sprayer.

Isabey Fleur Nocturne – Had to have the blue bottle with the orange dots on it. I knew the scent was good on me, so didn’t hesitate.

Bond No 9 I Love New York Earth Day- Bought without sniffing because I fell in love with the pretty green bottle. It has a lot of LOTV, which can go either way for me, and fortunately, I really like the perfume.

I also have L’Artisan Ananas Fizz in the pineapple top bottle. Knew I liked it before I bought and was happy to be able to get the fancy bottle.

It’ll probably take me more than an hour to get through all the comments, so I’ll comment before I make dinner and come back and read the entire thread later. I’m in L de Lolita Lempicka Coral Flower, which comes in an even cuter bottle than the original L, with frosted aqua glass, and a charm with my initial picked out in seed bead “pearls.” Luckily I also like the scent, although it’s cold and rainy here today, and I think of its brown-sugar-and-grapefruit quality as more suitable for warm weather. I think I’ve at least liked all the Lolita Lempicka perfumes I’ve tried, although the edts are very wispy and fleeting on me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms.

I’m in Tom Ford Velvet Orchid. LOVE the ridged deep purple bottle with gold plaque & LOVE the scent. Black Orchid was a bit too much for me, but Velvet Orchid is just right! Mr A2P enjoys it too, doesn’t irritate his sensitive nose.

Bond No 9 Signature & New York Amber bottles are equal parts enjoyment of bottle vision & scent.

Chanel Coco Noir, the longer I own it the more I realize I love the bottle WAY more than I do the scent.

I was travelling yesterday, so couldn’t post, but was wearing Narciso. This is the only scent I think I would not have bought if I didn’t love the bottle so much (I do like the scent, but nit THAT much). This white bottle is perfect. I generally prefer minimalist design and as many others above, love Chanel, especially the exclusifs, and Serge Lutens, especially the export line. For a little opulence, I like Tom Ford and by Kilian, and if I’m feeling more austere, Byredo and Le Labo. Although Byredo’s candles look better than their pefumes. And FM samples come in beautiful packaging!

Also, I plan to get a bottle of Fleur du Male for decoration purposes.

Annikky, I’m quite surprised that you are the first to mention Narciso! I agree it’s a lovely bottle. The scent is nice too – but I also prefer the bottle 🙂 I came quite close to buying it after reading Turin’s review in Style Arabia. Then I realized that much of the pleasure was coming from the images he supplied to go with the scent, and not the scent itself…
