Roja Parfums Tutti Frutti ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 4 May 2015 16 Comments

Roja Parfums Tutti Frutti

British niche line Roja Parfums has launched the Tutti Frutti collection, described as "a delicious collection of unexpected Aouds". The trio includes Candy Aoud, Sweetie Aoud and Fruity Aoud.

"Tasty, Tempting, Tantalising…..Tutti Frutti - I first fell in love with Aoud when I was working in the Middle East -exploring the fragrances of the region and peoples responses to them. I discovered that whilst there was an unrequited love for the ingredient there was a craving for something new, something creative. Surrounded by indulgence and edible guilty pleasures, I began playing with the idea of combining Aoud with gourmand elements. The Tutti Frutti Collection is my edible take on a much loved ingredient"

Candy Aoud ~ "a sweet shop in a bottle". ["The ultimate candy crush of Banana, Rose, Apple & Pear is sweetened by Amber and exotic Aoud."]

Sweetie Aoud ~ "a mouthwatering guilty pleasure." ["A specially-made 'Patisserie-Accord' lends this Aoud creation the enveloping sweetness of fresh baked treats."]

Fruity Aoud ~ "a delicious fruit cocktail".  ["An ultra-fruit medley of Grapefruit, Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Raspberry & Strawberry blends with precious Aoud."]

I will update with notes if I can.

Roja Parfums Candy Aoud, Sweetie Aoud and Fruity Aoud are available now at Selfridges, £395 each.

Still. Tutti Frutti Aoud wins something for Best of 2015, just haven’t decided what yet.

I think these could be contenders for a Tomlin Award, i.e. proving Lily Tomlin’s line “No matter how cynical you become, it’s never enough to keep up.”

For that prize, I think I skip and buy a fruit salad instead 😛 (I know we haven’t got the notes or smelled them yet, but I can’t help but think of Escada’s horrid summer perfumes..haha)

Think of the Escadas, add oud, I guess!

I have only sniffed a couple from Roja, one being a lilac one. Didn’t find them worth the money. I can’t see how one would want to fork out over 500 bucks for something called Candy or Sweetie Oud. If charging that amount, at least come up with better names, even if sweet and fruity.

£395 is real money, though- and I don’t know if that description is worth it.

Tried these yesterday and fortunately for my bank manager they were just as bad as I had feared based on the names and descriptions – I found them all sickly sweet and 2 of them REALLY unpleasant. Does anyone really want to smell like this – especially at that price?!
