Demeter Chipotle Pepper ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 10 January 2015 8 Comments

Demeter Chipotle Pepper

Demeter has launched Chipotle Pepper, the latest addition to their Fragrance Library.

Demeter's Chipotle Pepper develops with an earthy, but mild spiciness, representative of the heat and distinctive smokiness that has made Chipotle a favorite American flavor. The scent, however, is very clean and fresh, while retaining some of the spice.

Interestingly enough, Chipotles are late season Jalapeño Peppers that are allowed to ripen to a deep red. Then, when they have the lowest moisture content, they are picked and smoked for several days. Generally, 10 pounds of Jalapeño will make 1 pound of Chipotle.

Demeter Chipotle Pepper is available in 15, 30 or 120 ml Cologne ($6 – $39.50) and in matching bath & body products.

Would love to try this! Demeter scores very high on the fun factor for me – but surely, they must have heard the feedback about lasting power! Wearing Pruning Shears today 🙂

Ditto on clean and fresh. I recently tried Tabasco flavored Jelly Bellies, while I think Jelly Bellies are generally disgusting..that one wasn’t lacking in spice..is was kinda yummy..even though, ya, the gross, jelly bean, artificial taste thing is still there. The Dirt beans, I didn’t try lol.

I just thought of this, but maybe they see lasting power as a plus. The fragrances are so unusual. Even the ones that are beloved, it’s possible they’re thinking that it’s better for the brand, on the whole, to keep the fragrances inexpensive and short-lived.

I know many people complain about the lasting power, but exactly — I don’t see these as the sort of fragrances I really want to last all day.

Yes, I see the point. I guess one has to commit to more sprays more frequently.

Totally irrational of me, I know, but I keep imagining that this one would sting! I do love very spicy food, but somehow clean and fresh doesn’t fit in with my concept of chipotle peppers. Could be interesting … and I just saw that they’re offering 3ml sizes now for $2.50.

When I read chili peppers I immediately thought of Tabasco. When I was in New Orleans in October, I saw a museum display with a factoid associated with Tabasco – it was originally bottled in the owner’s wife’s perfume / cologne bottle!
