Etat Libre d’Orange True Lust ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 7 January 2015 21 Comments

Etat Libre d'Orange True Lust

French niche line Etat Libre d’Orange will launch True Lust, a new fragrance, in February.

When the Putain des Palaces enters into a Dangerous Complicity, a relationship is born. It is a marriage of mystery, an uneasy merger of hearts and minds and flesh. A blend of Putain des Palaces and Dangerous Complicity, a union of temptation and peril.

The notes feature rum, ginger, rose, violet, coconut, osmanthus, lily of the valley, jasmine, ylang-ylang, tangerine, rice powder, ambergris, leather, animalic notes and sandalwood.

Etat Libre d'Orange True Lust will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I wish I’d smelled Dangerous Complicity.

      Yep, great bottle.

It smells like Tresor Midnight Rose to me.

    True Lust
    OMG !
Are there people who suffer from pseudo-lust?
And is that perfectly sultry model, somehow a victim? Is she a person who attracts total strangers who care only for her mind and soul but pretend to want only physical contact instead?

Hey, you are asking me things I do not know 🙂

HAHA, pseudo-lust. That cracks me up. I like everything about the ad, bottle, juice, but those eyes on the model!! Something about those bright purple eyes seems so wrong and I can see looking at that in 10 years time and saying: what were they thinking with those eyes! She’s got purple eyes, she’s lusty!

Ohh, I have Putain and really enjoy it! This sounds interesting but not a necessity, although I do like the bottle color!

Maybe I should just get a bottle of DC and mix my own juice?

I was thinking kind of the same thing. I have Putain as well, and I haven’t smelled Dangerous Complicity. Maybe should just get a bottle of DC and layer them. Even if this one is interesting, I don’t really think I want 100ml.

Or a sample of DC might do it!

I haven’t tried either Putain or Dangerous Complicity. I wanna see a review of True Lust wherein the reviewer also layers the two parent fragrances to compare the effect!

Doubt any of us has both — you might have to hope another reader chimes in 🙂

Eek, the notes sound like a mess. Won’t seek it out but won’t refuse to smell it either if it just happens to be available.

I’m with you; this is not calling out to me. I suppose I may be somewhat influenced by the not-great luck I’ve had with ELdO in the past. The only one that’s really moved me was Jasmin et Cigarette and that was mainly because it smelled so precisely like someone I used to date! (…I decided it was better if I didn’t have a bottle!)

This kind of surprises me. Didn’t Etienne de Swardt say not too long ago that he felt like he’d taken the brand as far as it could go? Guess he changed his mind?

I’d like to try it. Do I have the translation right, “purple ray from your eyes”? I did not know that was an expression for lust.

I stopped by New London pharmacy (in NYC) earlier today and spritzed True Lust some on a card, and some on my wrist. My wrist SMELLS GREAT and I am contemplating a full bottle. There, I said it.

It smells reminiscent of Hypnotic Poison but less powdery (still sweet though) and far more complex. It has the steamed rice note that I’d thought I’d find in Kenzo Amour but never did. It wears close to the skin. I love it.
