Thankfully the person Jo Malone is not deceased otherwise she would be turning in her grave. Those caps and bottles are awful and the whole collection feels a bit painful with the “ages” of Britain. It’s like something the Vera Wang Princess flanker line would put out. The only one I’d be interested in smelling is Birch and Black Pepper but I suspect it won’t match up to my Bulgari Black or Le Labo Patchouli.

Is Jo Malone turning into an upscale Victoria’s Secret??? Thanks Estee Lauder!

Interesting reaction…these look to me like much of what JM has been doing the past few years.

Yup. I kind of dig those bottles/caps. But I sniffed many J. Malones recently…I can’t say I liked one. Even the Nectarine one..which I liked for a while. I just don’t care for the line.

On one hand, I can see where they’re sort of trying to keep the original simplistic style of JM in scent, but on the other hand, they’re clearing trying to drag hip & trendy into it (London Rain series and now this – seems to want to grab the Hilary Mantel/Downton crowd), and I’m not sure it’s working. They can still clearly do more than competent scents, even if I don’t care for them (Sage and Sea Salt/Blackberry and Bay) though.

See, I thought they’d been trying to move into hip & trendy for some years now. The ribbons or whatever on the caps here are a bit different than their usual, though.

Could well be – I stopped being terribly interested after Jasmine and Mint, I think. I sort of perked up for the intense colognes, but I wasn’t too impressed with them. Still, I’m glad they still have most of the old scents.

I’ve also been fed up with The Jo Malones lately. The black tea someting was good, but mostly nowdays they are boring me.
Still, as a lover of Tudor England, if the scent has some historical ground, I might have to have it.

I’d expect Tudor Rose to have about as much historical ground as Reign (the Mary Queen of Scots teenage drama).

Have you tried L’Eau from Diptyque? It’s supposed to be based off a sixteenth century English recipe for potpourri.

I’m not hip or trendy and I like the aesthetics of this limited edition series. I’ll try all the new ones – even the one with my nemesis LOTV note.

Now if they actually represented the perfumes of their respective eras, THAT would be noteworthy – not holding my breath…..

A couple of these seem worth a sniff…that rose and amber..birch. I never did try those rain scents or whatever they were…I wanted to kind of try that wisteria..but I guess there have been others I have wanted to sniff much more.

I had a sniff of the wisteria one. Pretty, but you need a higher tolerance for aquatics than I have to appreciate it.

Okay, I will be in the minority today with my comment. When I first saw the bottles I thought, “Wow! How interesting!” To me, Jo Malone is like a favorite relative. Regardless of what they do, what they wear, how they look, you put them on a pedestal. I am a huge fan of the brand and they can do no wrong in my eyes. I am sure one of those scents will catch my attention. Probably the Lily of the Valley.

I find their usual aesthetic dull as dishwater and am quite happy with a rock vibe 🙂 I like the maroon and black… If the scents are just ever so slightly distinctive I would be happy!
