From Cire Trudon, the Odeurs d'Hiver gift set, with votives in Bethléem (blue; "In a warm, amber manger, his eyes open wide to take in the silver night. He takes his first breath, inhaling exotic gifts of spices from distant travelers who have come to celebrate his arrival."), Gabriel (green; "Gabriel introduces welcomed warmth to chilly Winter afternoons. With notes of leather, cashmere wood, and candied chestnuts, the fragrance weaves happy, cozy memories.") and Nazareth (red; "Under a unique star, the red fire of clove, cinnamon and orange dances in the silent sacred night. From Orient to Occident, a pinch of olibanum secretly enlightens the soul."). $210 at Aedes, individual full-sized candles are $105 each.

Guerlain candles

From Guerlain, candles in Bois des Indes ("A spellbinding journey through the sacred history of India. Clouds of smoky woods and wafts of offerings intertwine. The sweetness of sandalwood swirls together with the scents of dried bark and spice-laden soil. Along the river, a feeling of peace settles in.") and Hiver en Russie ("A return to the dream of the sparkling palaces and sumptuousness of Holy Russia. The scalding-hot scented tea of a samovar blends with the smell of smoldering wood. Precious ashes of frankincense enriched with myrrh illustrate the mystical splendor of churches with golden domes.") $48 86 each at Neiman Marcus.

Annick Goutal Noël candle

From Annick Goutal, the Noël candle: "Find the magic of Christmas in Annick Goutal's elegant candle; a truly decorative object presented in a clear glass streaked with gold. Their diffusion is optimized by a compact perfumed wax made with natural essences. The Noël candle fragrance is fresh and full-bodied, spicy and fruity. The flavour of citrus fruits, orange and Brazilian mandarin; the slightly acid bark of Siberian pine; the heaviness of an unforgettable scent of resin. A scent with the clarity of snow and the warmth of a house filled with impatient, excited children on Christmas Eve." £58 at Harvey Nichols in the UK.

Esteban Perfumed Good Luck Charm Air Fresheners

From Esteban, Perfumed Good Luck Charm Air Fresheners, in Sous Les Feuilles (green citrus scent with grapefruit, mandarin, lemon, tomato leaves, cyclamen, white peach, dry wood and moss) or Jathikai (spicy-woody scent with bergamot, black pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, chili pepper, vetiver, cedar and patchouli), to hang in closet or car. Yeah, that actually sounds really nice – the Juniper Ridge. And reasonably priced too.

The Noel candle is gorgeous, and it smells wonderful. I have several small ones, purchased on sale at… Parfum1?… a couple of years ago, but the glass container is much simpler on mine, just bands of gold on clear glass.

I’d LOVE to smell the Cire Trudon set, not that I can afford it. Sigh.

Very reasonably priced, and does in fact smell just as advertised. Not long lasting, but lovely while it lasts. Would love to have some to spray on my tree as it loses scent.

Never smelled the AG candle but Kevin sent me a decant of the AG Noel spray…also lovely.

The AG candle is very pretty, but there’s not much throw and it burns quite quickly.

I want all of those candles (and the kitty incense burner, OMG that is so covetable), but the pricing is obscene! I’m guessing the Guerlains are votives? Otherwise they look positively cheap in this company, even though there is nothing cheap about a $58 candle.

I’m wondering what size the Guerlain candles are too. Jardins d’Écrivains has an absolutely massive Christmas candle called Dickens. Twisted Lily has it listed at $55. I almost got it during their black Friday free shipping deal but I was able to resist. I’m trying to shake the impulse buying habit.

The Guerlains are 180g, but I had the price wrong.

My sincere apologies…they are $86, that is a typo.

Oooooh! I wonder if they actually have those Guerlain candles at a Neiman Marcus near me? (And will they be on sale after Christmas 😉 )

I just looked — the full size candle is actually $86, so the other one must be a votive. A $58 votive.

Is JdE selling a cardboard box with some herbs in it for $72?

Turns out it’s cheaper than the Guerlain candle, at least!

Yeah, but with the Guerlain candle you presumably get something more valuable than a small cardboard box full of leaves… or at least one hopes!

            Ha, true.

It’s a very particular style, you’ll either love it or hate it.

That cat censer is hilarious! I can picture it sitting on the sideboard trying to be a dragon, or conjuring some black magic demon, with little wisps of smoke pouring out it’s mouth.. Lol

I’d like all three of those AdP candles… and £270 to pay for them!

Yes, those are so elegant – I wonder if the fragrances go together as well as the glass containers.
