A place to escape even if just for a moment

Aerin Lauder briefly introduces Aerin Iris Meadow and (below the jump) Waterlily Sun. No irises, no waterlilies...just palm trees and blue water and green grass (and a dog).

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel that everything that’s produced with this woman’s name is an exercise in repulsive self promotion? Her makeup as well as her fragrance line is bland, pale, insipid, and made for people who don’t really like makeup OR perfume. Every bit of advertisement is targeted at telling you what great taste she has. And the fact that it’s part of the Estée Lauder line (and never fails to let you know that SHE’s also part of the Lauder line) but not labeled Estée Lauder is particularly galling. As if those other people, the ones who buy the regular line do not have the elevated taste and discretion (poor dears!) of those of us who use Aerin’s products. Even though it was those other people, purchasing all that product that made Aerin’s life so cushy. So she can now insinuate how déclassé she thinks they are.

I did not feel that way about the EL Private Collection scents, but yes, there’s something very off-putting about these, and the videos for these last 2 seem particularly tone deaf — as though she was on vacation in Hawaii anyway and said sure, come by and film me, I’ll think of something to say about these perfumes I’ve never smelled and that I have no appropriate visuals for…
