Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles (& some other stuff) 2014, part 22

Posted by Robin on 3 October 2014 20 Comments

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. Today's post includes collector items from Guerlain, Estee Lauder and 4711; and a new format for Elizabeth and James Nirvana.

Guerlain's Coque d'Or Spray Powder

From Guerlain's limited edition holiday collection for 2014, Coque d'Or Spray Powder: "For the first time since its creation, Guerlain has reproduced Coque d’Or's original bottle and reinterpreted it in gold-tone-lacquered glass. With a mere press of the bulb, the twirling, airy powder enfolds the hair and décolleté in a delicate sparkling veil. Subtly scented with Coque d’Or's legendary chypre notes, recomposed in an exclusive variation." $95 at Bloomingdales.

Estee Lauder solid perfume ring

From Estee Lauder, "You're sure to draw attention wearing this glamorous, golden cocktail ring. Perfect for fragrance touch-ups, open the ring to find Beautiful in long-lasting solid perfume. Comes with golden chain to wear as a bracelet. Elegantly boxed, with a velvety pouch." $49 at Lord & Taylor.

Estee Lauder bow pendant

Also from Estee Lauder, "Add a touch of luxury to your evening with this charming bow pendant. The red and golden bow can adorn your boudoir or be worn around your neck so you can carry your favorite fragrance wherever you go. The limited edition compact opens to reveal Estée Lauder Pleasures in long-lasting solid perfume." $59, also at Lord & Taylor.

4711 artist editions

From 4711, artist editions of the brand's classic cologne, designed by Koralie and SupaKitch. The 800 ml bottles are hand-signed and numbered; 471+1 were made. Available at the 4711 Flagship Store and the 4711 Duty Free Shop-in-Shop at Cologne Bonn Airport. (via 4711)

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black and Nirvana White Perfume Oil

From Elizabeth and James, Nirvana Black and Nirvana White in a new Perfume Oil format, $35 each at Sephora.

    That Coque d’Or bottle….

I don’t even know if I like the scent, but I want it…

Uh, yeah…it is going to be hard to resist. They’re bringing back the perfume, too, but that I suspect will be pricey and hard to get.

Oh crud, LOL, I first read that and was like 95 dollars for a Guerlain frag? In that bottle? That’s too good…then saw it was for the powder..oh well, there was the dream of it anyway:). With Guerlains, my eyes go straight to the dollar amount..without reading details first.

The powder is supposed to be scented, but I have a feeling that the “recomposed in an exclusive variation” is a PR-ified way of saying “this will barely smell at all.”

I really like Nirvana Black, so I may have took into getting that oil.

There’s a roll-on now too — or maybe there always was and I forgot.

Yeah, they’ve always had the roll-on. But I love oils and that Black is calling to me.

In my opinion, that bow pendant is a rare style fail from Estee Lauder. That thing looks like every ugly cheap necklace my grandmother ever bought me in the 1970s, whereas most of the time their solid perfume jewelry is very attractive.

Holy smokes, the Coque d’Or. Gorgeous.

Lol at Lauder bow..I thought Avon right away.

But do like the ring..as long as it’s not terribly chunky and cheap blingy..ya know?

I do not really like the ring either, but yes, the necklace…had to do a double take, couldn’t believe it was from EL.

I kind of almost like the bow, but then I see it as that ironic kiddie style which is not something Estee Lauder is famous for.

I kind of like the 4711 bottles, especially the one on the right. 800 ml though? Yikes!

I like them both, and they’d look awfully nice together! But yeah, 800 ml.

I thought the Coque d’Or bottle was a collector’s edition of Viktor & Rolf’s BonBon at first. Then I thought the Arden pendant had something to do with Hello Kitty! I need more caffeine.

I freaked out when I say your comment that Coque D’Or is going to be reissued and then I saw a press release.

“The reissued Coque d’Or has been produced in 29 numbered pieces, each for a price of 17.000 €.”

You have GOT to be kidding me. Excuse me while I weep.

My favorite is the set of 4711 bottles but whatever will I do with 800 mLs, wait, 2 x 800 = 1,600 mLs. So what am I supposed to do with 1,600 mLs of perfume? Maybe for the next Splitmeet? Or bathe NSTer’s pets, especially the cats who give their owners perfume gifts?

The Estee Lauder ones look really tacky.

I also thought the Coque d’Or bottle was a special edition of V&R Bonbon.

In fairness, though, the 4711 is a classic eau de cologne and meant to be really splashed on, so an 800-mL bottle is not as insane as it sounds. It’s not like Chanel doing a 900-mL bottle of No. 5 extrait, which is a real thing they really manufacture (http://www.sephora.fr/Parfum/Flacons-Geants/N5-Parfum-Les-Grands-Extraits-Flacon/P96113).

        Ha…and there’s a 450 ml if 900 is just too much.
