Hermes Cuir d’Ange ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 15 August 2014 14 Comments

hermes-ange-s

Hermès will launch Cuir d'Ange, the 12th fragrance in the unisex Hermessence range, in September. The last in the series was Épice Marine, which launched in 2013.

Cuir d'Ange was developed by house perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena and inspired by the delicate leathers in the Hermès workshops. You may remember that Ellena styled the soft leather notes used for Kelly Calèche as "cuir d'ange" — angel leather, after a phrase from Jean Giono's novel Jean le Bleu.

Hermès Cuir d'Ange will be available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette, €185.

Update: the notes include heliotrope, hawthorn, violet, narcissus and musk.

Hermes and leather? I’m excited to try it. I liked the delicate take on leather in Kelly Caleche.

Am hoping this is maybe a *little* less delicate…or at least more leathery than KC. We’ll see!

Looking forward to trying this very much so.
Anything leather is up my ally, and being Hermes and JCE makes it even more appealing!

I still haven’t tried Hermes’ Epice Marine from last year but since I’m beginning more and more leathery fragrances lately I would be very curious to give it a try.
We don’t have Hermes boutiques in Poland so I will have to ask a good fairy from abroad to possibly get me at least 1ml to try.

Dearest Scent Twin, Epice Marine = cumin

(I am staying far far away from you the day you get a chance to try it)

Uh oh, a leather Hermessence could be right up my alley, although I am also hoping for something with more bite than Kelly Calèche!

I feel like this will smell like Santal Massoia with leather, which doesn’t really excite me. I’m probably off but since most Hermessences are related to each other, that’s what I imagined. Still, you know I’ll be calling my local Hermes come Sept. 1. 🙂

This totally sounds like my cup of tea. Will definitely give it a whirl when it comes out. Must also remember to try Épice Marine, too.

I am looking forward to trying this!

Coincidentally, the Hermes counter at Bergdorfs must not have registered in my brain all the previous (lots of) times visiting and today – voila! They carry the Hermessence coffret!

What else in the cofferet? Do you know if they have it else where? I love leather and am primed for an Hermes purchase for the first time! sanFrancisco has at least Hermes and Barney’s, two very good places to sniff!

I was able to smell a sample of this last week and unfortunately I didn’t like it at all. It smelled strange to me, not really like leather, just a weird creamy smell. Definitely do not blind buy this one.
