L’Occitane Aguape ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 28 June 2014 8 Comments

L'Occitane Aguapé

L’Occitane has launched Aguapé, the latest fragrance collection in their L’Occitane au Brésil range. As with the earlier fragrances in this series, the products are made in Brazil and based on aromatic materials local to the region.

Aguapé is a delicate aquatic floral centered on the Eichhornia crassipes, or water hyacinth, that grows on the lakes and rivers of the Pantanal tropical wetlands. The illustrations on the packaging were created by designer Ronaldo Fraga.

L'Occitane Aguapé is available now in Brazil, in in 100 and 300 ml Cologne and matching bath & body products. A selection of the L’Occitane au Brésil launched worldwide earlier this year.

I am really curious about this Brazil-only line.

We are practically next door but still they haven’t reached us.
After the world cup is over and plane tickets get back to normal, I am hoping to visit a friend of mine that lives in Rio and I’ll try to find them.

If I do, I’ll post my impresions.

(round tickets to Rio from Buenos Aires are usually USD 350 on low season… 400 to 450 the rest of the year… but now with the world cup and all they are charging 850! for a 2hour 40 min flight! I can get a round ticket to Miami for 950 off season!.. oh well, I just wanted to vent…. sorry 😉 )

Oh, that surprises me, I figured they’d be marketing them all over Latin America. There are 4 of them here in the US I think. I smelled one of them very quickly on paper, I think it was Bromelia. Was surprised at how light it was. But as usual, no luck getting samples.

I don’t know about this line. L’occitane is provencal and prides itself on it. Hoping on the world cup fever bandwagon is not something i expected of them.

It’s not the World Cup bandwagon in this case I don’t think, it’s the expanding perfume market in Brazil…they need new markets, like everybody else. And Brazil has some of the highest rates of perfume usage in the world, way higher than US / Europe / Asia.

I suspect that Loccitane is expanding their operations here, since a lot of shops has their stores now and even the ones that don’t have it has kiosks displaying this Brazilian line.
Indeed, here people love to wear fragrances here. The market just keeps growing every year and it seems to be space yet to more growth – this with the highes taxes in perfumes and cosmetics! Sometimes i wonder how it’d be if they were more affordable.

Oh, they are very definitely expanding in Brazil…it’s their big push at the moment.

My husband does habitat management and restoration (with a focus on native species). Water hyacinth is not native to our area and it is extremely invasive and is taking over entire waterways (it floats on the surface). Trying to eradicate it from his workplace is an uphill battle.

If they need any raw materials for this perfume, I know where to find some!
