Carner Barcelona El Born ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 June 2014 4 Comments

Carner Barcelona El Born

Spanish niche brand Carner Barcelona has launched El Born, a new fragrance named for the Barcelona neighborhood.

A perfume that captures the essence of one of the neighborhoods with more spirit of Barcelona. Its olfactory notes perfectly catch the strength and personality of the cobbled labyrinth of shops, restaurants, art galleries.. that flow seamlessly into the old stones of the medieval times, witness of Barcelona’s history. Merging the old and new, we have created a contemporary soft liquorish perfume filled with the vitality and character of El Born.

The notes feature lemon, bergamot, angelica, honey, fig, heliotrope, benzoin, jasmine, vanilla, Peru balsam, sandalwood and musk.

Carner Barcelona El Born is available in 50 (€90) and 100 ml (€135) Eau de Parfum.

Robin, weren’t you in Barcelona this year? Did you visit this neighborhood, and, if you did, what did it smell like to you?

Yes! The streets of Barcelona’s old town, in general, do not smell good, and El Born in particular has lots of tourists and lots of bars (mind you, also some lovely & rather expensive boutiques & restaurants) and it’s not unusual to smell both pot and urine. But it’s a lovely part of town, very lively, & can see why they picked it for a fragrance.

(and actually, shouldn’t have said it wasn’t unusual to smell both pot and urine — we smelled both in El Born, but hey, I was in town for 10 days, what do I know!)

I was there for 15 days and not only do they smell of pot and urine, but if the weather gets hot and no rain, the sewers start giving up smell too…
It is a very old town…. so the sewage part makes kind of sense…

Other parts of the city, like the park near El Born where the city council is (I don’t know if that is the real name… El Ayuntamiento de Barcelona) smell lovely. I was there back in 2007 and I walked and walked the city every day.. that is how I “discover” a city when I travel.. Magical moments.
