Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 21 May 2014 15 Comments

Van Cleef & Arpels California Rêverie

Van Cleef & Arpels will launch California Rêverie, the latest addition to 2009′s Collection Extraordinaire. The last was Rose Velours, in 2013. California Rêverie is named for one of the brand's jewelry collections, inspired by "the majestic scenery of California".

California Rêverie was developed by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu, who also developed Rose Velours and Muguet Blanc. The fragrance centers on jasmine sambac; additional notes include mandarin, neroli, frangipani, beeswax and vanilla.

Van Cleef & Arpels California Rêverie will be available in 75 ml Eau de Parfum. Look for it in July.

It sounds lovely…but I really didn’t like Muguet Blanc. So, want to try it, but will wait & see. Neiman Marcus usually has them, can’t remember now if Saks does too. Luckyscent has them online.

      Yes it sounds really lovely!
The only fragrance I really likes from this line was bois d’iris, but it is difficult to do wrong with me when you whip up that list of notes…
California is my “dream-place” in so many respects… Too bad I need to cross half of the world (almost literally) to get there!!!

That was the only one I really liked too.

Lived in California for years, miss it like crazy.

Technically, this is not new. In 2011 i found a bottle of something called California Reverie on ebay. Didn’t found any info about it or notes, but it seemed legit (and, searching for it i came to a conclusion that it was a scent gave as a gift when they launched the California Reverie jewelry collection to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Van Cleef & Arpels). Now i’m curious if it’s the same fragrance or just the name, the limited California was very, very fruity and floral, pretty, springlike, but not my cup of tea.

I have heard about that…assume it was something they did on a small scale when they launched the jewelry collection.

Wow! Since 2011 they’ve been holding out on us! Haha. But you’ve had it since! What a find! Congrats on the lower price. What’s it like????

Oops, answered you above before I saw this, but would give same answer…don’t think it was ever released as a commercial product until now.

Indeed, it wasn’t. It was just a gift until now. But either the notes doesn’t reflect the scent or they have changed it.

The notes sound kind of meh to me but I will try it when it hits Bergdorfs. From the VC&A line, I love Bois d’ Iris, Rose Velours and Orchidee Vanille.

Another Californian since birth here. While most of the notes sound good, they do not scream “California” to me.
