The swapmeet (episode 4) & splitmeet (episode 1) follow-up

Posted by Robin on 26 April 2014 28 Comments

orchid-thirds

Upcoming: we'll hold our next freebiemeet in late May, and the next swapmeet will be in October.

So, for those of you who participated in the 4th swapmeet, how did it go? Feel free to tell us what you got, and whether or not you loved it.

And the first splitmeet, how did that go? It was my perception that it wasn't a complete success, and I was wondering what the participants thought. Should we try it again, or let it go?

I swapped Cabochard for Silences, which I love, and a very nice person swapped me a glorious package of chocolate for a mini I offered as a freebie. Yay!

Oh, for what it’s worth, I am the very happy beneficiary of a splitmeet success and really appreciate NST hosting it! It seemed like once people were mentioning things they were interested in, split hosts came out of the woodwork? Or maybe raising the number of splits people are allowed to offer in the first place could achieve a similar result. I just got the impression it was just sort of hard to predict which would draw interest.

Swapmeet went brilliantly, so many thanks to my swap partners!

Thanks for the feedback on the splitmeet! Hope others will chime in. I limited the number only so we didn’t end up with way more offers than takers, but that seemed to happen anyway.

I got 5ml decants of Aedes de Venustas Iris Nazarena and Penhaligon’s Iris Prima, so I’m very happy with my swap 🙂

I love Iris Prima (and all things Iris really– from Cuir de Russie to 28 La Pausa) but haven’t tried the Aedes. How is it? Is it carrotty? The only irises that I don’t really love thus far are Hiris and Iris Silver Mist. What’s your take on the Aedes?

I really like Iris Nazarena, to me it’s a smoky iris with incense and with a specific note that made me think of ash. I didn’t smell much carrot in it. You can read my review of Iris Nazarena on my blog (http://wp.me/p2x0R7-1in) and if you need some more iris recommendations – feel free to email me 😉

I din’t participate in the swap meet this time around, but thought the split meet was really successful.

Did you like the “rules” for the splitmeet, or do you think we should have done it differently?

I thought the rules were really good, and wouldn’t change them. Note, though, that I did not host any splits–just went in on two that someone else hosted. Maybe the hosts have different opinions?

I did okay in the swap. I didn’t participate in the split this time but I would consider doing so next time. It’s really a matter of someone having something you really want or having the decanting supplies to do the split and neither of those things worked in my favor this time.

I did get a great hand made necklace in the swap that I really like and some scented soap that my hubby was happy with so it was a success for me.

I participated in the splitmeet and was very happy with the results. I think the two I shared splits with were happy as well. I didn’t participate in the swapmeet this time, but I have before. I love that you host all three of those (including the freebiemeet) and so appreciate the opportunity whether I join in that particular time or not. Thank you!!

Like Missionista, I did not host a split, I just bought into one. I thought the rules were fine.

I participated in the split meet (as a purchaser, not as a host this time), and I thought it went really well. I might consider hosting a split next time, if we do it again. I would like to see it continue. I participated in the swap meet this time around, and I was very happy with that too. I didn’t get rid of everything I wanted to, but I got a lot of good stuff for the things that did find takers. Thanks to all my split and swap partners!

I wasn’t going to participate in the Swapmeet. I had a lot of things to swap and a short–picky–list of things I wanted. But then, you know how it goes,…I saw something I wanted! So I did swap with someone and it went very smoothly. I got Chanel No. 5 edt and I’m thrilled with it.

Thank you for hosting, Robin. I didn’t participate in the Splitmeet.

The Swapmeet went fantastically for me! I sent on an unloved bottle of Yvresse and a Shalimar flanker and received fragrances I wear in return. My fabulous swapistas sent items carefully packed and in a timely manner. Next time I will get rid of more……

I have to pause in my CBS Sunday Morning watching and my tea drinking to put out a huge thank you to my swap partners. I ended up doing more swaps than I ever had previously, and I couldn’t be happier. I am gobsmacked by the generosity of my NST swap mates. Thank you! <3

I didn't participate in the Split Meet but only because I just wasn't looking to add any more perfume to my collection. At least with swapping, I'm moving something out for whatever I'm bringing in. Robin, you must have been a judge in a former life because I think the rules are perfect. Thank you for all you do!

I was thrilled by this last swapmeet! I was able to unload some unloved scents and got back ones I adore in return! I couldn’t be more pleased. Thanks, Robin, for hosting!

I was also thrilled by the swapmeet. I got some things I’ve been wanting for ages, and am enjoying them greatly, along with some beautiful and generous extras from swap partners. Hopefully what I sent out is being enjoyed just as much as what I received! One of the packages I sent took an age to arrive, but it got there in the end, thankfully. Thanks very much for hosting Robin 🙂

I didn’t participate in the splitmeet mostly I think because nearly all the splitters wanted to keep things within the US.

I participated in the swapmeet and was very happy with everything. Thank you to all my lovely swap partners and to NST for hosting!

This has nothing to do with the event itself, but two of the packages I sent out (from Sweden to the US) were ripped open on the way to their recipients. The bottles arrived intact, so that was lucky, but the extras and cards were missing. This is the first time I’ve had that happen, I just thought I’d share it.

I participated in both. Loved the splitmeet, especially once it was clear that we could post our list of wants (I’m nervous about hosting a split, but I’m game to participate in them). I will definitely participate again. I think the rules were just fine.

For the swapmeet, it too was fantastic. My swap partners were generous and great to correspond with. I didn’t get rid of everything I wanted too, but there’s always the freebie meet.

Actually, wait, perhaps the swap didn’t go that well, since I’m now convinced I need to own a bottle of En Passant …

Robin, my swaps were both wonderful. I acquired some vintage Diorella, Therese, Silver Iris, and a treat sample of the mind-blowing Oriza Legrand Chypre Mousse from two lovely swap partners. I’m all in favor of more swap meets.
