Dawn Spencer Hurwitz La Reine des Fleurs ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 26 February 2014 3 Comments

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Passport to Paris

Indie line Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has launched La Reine des Fleurs, a new fragrance joining her Passport to Paris Collection (see Passport a` Paris, Vers la Violette and Amouse Bouche) for the Denver Art Museum, inspired by their Passport to Paris exhibition.

Commissioned by Denver Art Museum for their “Untitled #63: au naturel” event in conjunction with their Passport to Paris exhibit, La Reine des Fleurs was inspired by French artist Eugene Carriere’s late 19th Century painting “Young Girl with Flowers”. The imagine [sic] (which can be viewed at dshnotebook) is both dramatic and innocent, sophisticated and youthful. It evokes a kind of interplay of childish things and a lush elegance. It is this sense of beauty in two worlds that is expressed in La Reine des Fleurs.

In perfumery, the Queen of Flowers is of course, the glorious rose. And it is this heart that beats at the center of La Reine des Fleurs, accented by youthful peach, and given a mysteriously, luscious balsamic-vanilla drydown. This rose perfume is as velvety as the petals themselves.

You can read more about the fragrance, and find DIY instructions to make your own version, here.

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz La Reine des Fleurs is available in Eau de Parfum and Extrait.

I didn’t like Passport a Paris, but this sounds promising.

It does sound very try-worthy…I like rose, and interested that it’s not apparently a favorite note of DSH. Would be cool to see what she did with it.

She does such beautiful roses, too. I adore Rose Vert… some day I’ll own more than samples.
