Demeter Silvery Tip Pekoe & Baihao Yinzhen Tea ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 8 February 2014 6 Comments

Demeter Silvery Tip Pekoe and Baihao Yinzhen Tea

Demeter has launched two new fragrances based on Chinese white teas: Silvery Tip Pekoe and Baihao Yinzhen Tea. Other recent scents from Demeter include Pizza and Candy Cane Truffle.

Silvery Tip Pekoe  ~ "Silvery Tip Pekoe Tea is a very clean fragrance, a light green scent with citrus notes and light floral notes. Fresh and invigorating, the scent is inspired by the expensive and luxurious Silvery Tip Pekoe white tea, mostly from the Fujian and Zhejiang provinces in China. Silvery Tip is highly prized for its famous color and appearance, as well as it's [sic] taste and smell. White tea comes from the buds and leaves of the Chinese Camellia sinensis plant that are allowed to wither in natural sunlight before they are lightly processed, preventing oxidation or further processing of the tea."

Baihao Yinzhen Tea  ~ "Baihao Yinzhen is a deeper, green scent with heavier wood notes complimented by lighter citrus tones. It is more complex, masculine and deeper that it's [sic] Silvery Tip cousin. Scholars and tea merchants generally disagree as to when the first production of white tea (as it is understood in China today) began. What is today known as white tea may have come into creation in the last two centuries. Of all kinds of teas, white tea contains the most antioxidants."

Demeter Silvery Tip Pekoe and Baihao Yinzhen Tea are available in 15, 30 or 120 ml Cologne ($6 – $39.50) and in matching bath & body products; a set with 30 ml bottles of both fragrances is $29.

No one can beat those prices. Sadly everyone can beat their longevity…

True enough! Still would like to try the Baihao Yinzhen.

Sorry to say but I’m not a fan of this brand. It all smells cheap and very synthetic to me.

I really like some of them, but can’t argue — they’re obviously not made with expensive materials.

I’m reviving this thread because today I encountered the Baihao Yinzhen at Duane Reade (definitely more exciting than the binder clips I was there to buy). I test-spritzed it on a blotter and then on my hand. Very nice and certainly “oomphier” than the average Demeter scent. I’d buy it if I didn’t already own Jo Malone Earl Grey & Cucumber; they smell quite similar, to me.
