Guerlain Cherry Blossom ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 9 January 2014 25 Comments

Guerlain Cherry Blossom

Guerlain will reintroduce Cherry Blossom, a 1999 fragrance for women, as part of the Les Parisiennes collection. For a number of years, Guerlain issued a limited edition flanker to Cherry Blossom every spring; I believe the last one was 2008's Cherry Blossom Delight.

Cherry Blossom is a tribute to the freshness of the cherry blossom, the symbol of spring, beauty and the joy of love in Japan. Arising from the olfactory emotion and talent of Jean-Paul Guerlain, this delicate yet rich eau de toilette with its fresh, luminous accents enthrals women and uplifts hearts.

The notes include bergamot, green tea, cherry, lilac, jasmine and powdery notes.

Guerlain Cherry Blossom will be available in 125 ml Eau de Toilette. Look for it later this month.

Haven’t even sniffed the first one, too many perfumes, not enough time.

Hi! Has anyone here smelled the 1999 version?
I’m always excited about a new Guerlain, even though I’m probably not the target consumer of a perfume titled “cherry blossom”…
(What a contrast with names such as l’heuere bleue, Shalimar, Mitsouko, Vol de nuit….)
(I’m also ignoring the list of notes, which are so very not *me*)
    …Aaanyway. still curious.
And: I’d so love to visit the renovated Paris boutique… I hope it has not become too intimidating and that you can still touch, spritz, and smell at ease…

Yes, but years ago. Very girly — I would put the emphasis on “delicate” in the description above. Most of the cherry blossom series were geared towards the Asian market.

I will get it for the romantic juice in the bottle alone!

(Wonder if it will look a little “science-experiment”ish sitting next to a bottle of L’Heure de Nuit :P)

Will this be a permanent addition or a LE? If it is a LE I will have to make a dash to the department store!

Ha, that would look colorful, at least!

And sorry, don’t know, although scents do seem to come & go from that collection.

I don’t understand this news, since this one was already part of Parisiennes collection. Are they reintroducing it on the collection?

I thought it was at one time too, but then it left? Or the news might be because they’re also going to introduce it at Harrods, & possibly elsewhere? Not sure…apologies if it never left the Parisiennes & I’m announcing it for no reason.

And adding…it would not be the 1st time.

I’m also confused Robin, since there was a time this one was rumoured to be axed with the Mayotte one too. But then, never saw any confirmation of it. So maybe they are just launching it on other stores?

Possibly. Honestly, a detective could not keep track of it all — there is too much product. I can’t tell you how many times a week I see announcements of “new” fragrances that in fact have been on counters for ages.

I had a small bottle of the original 1999 version which I bought at Duty Free in Tokyo. It is very soft, very sweet and very UNLIKE a Guerlain. I liked it but it proved too gentle for me and I gave it away. It was certainly geared towards the Asian market and the Tokyo airport always had multiple boxed sets of something Cherry Blossom. I never liked any of the flankers, the one I remember as the worst was one that had a lemon backdrop. And they also made a CB flanker spray that was softly glittered.

Some of the flankers were pretty funny, this might be the one you’re remembering:

The problem with these beautifully colored perfumes (and this one is almost unbearably pretty) is that the effect is totally spoiled as you use it.

Maybe not quite as much in the bee bottles, which are gorgeous on their own, but it will still won’t look near as pretty as it empties.

    Hi Robin!

As somebody else told it before, I am pretty sure the fragrance is already part of Les Parisiennes collection! I smelled it several times last year in Guerlain boutiques in Paris. On their website it is said the perfume is currently unavailable though, perhaps they are re-making and re-adding it?
What I can say from what I recall is that it is a very sweet fragrance, yet not overloaded with sugar – and that juice, God this color is the perfect shade of pink! I just wish it could stay longer on my skin than it did when I sprayed it.

Thank you for this news anyway!

That may be the prettiest thing I gave ever seen.
I want to wear it, drink it, and then jump in the bottle and paddle around in it.

I have the Cherry Blossom extrait purchased around 2006, it is a light, green, not very sweet scent. It is lovely but so light and short- lived I would probably not buy it again.
