Posted by Robin on 3 January 2014 22 Comments

Desigual Sex, Fun & Love

Spanish fashion brand Desigual launched their debut trio of fragrances, Sex, Fun and Love, in November in Spain. They will launch elsewhere (including in the US) this coming February.

Sex ~ developed by perfumer Daphne Bugey. Notes for the "warm, intense and provocative" fragrance include rhubarb, red fruits, tuberose, grapefruit, musk, vanilla and precious woods.

Fun ~ developed by perfumer Christophe Raynaud. Notes for the "cheerful, light" fragrance include blueberries, nashi pear, peach, passion fruit, violet, peony, sandalwood and teak.

Love ~ developed by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. Notes for the "juicy, sweet and very tender" scent include cranberry, black currant, grapefruit, orange blossom, benzoin, praline, sandalwood and tonka bean.

Desigual Sex, Fun and Love are available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

These sound like a fruity hot mess! God I’m so done with the fruity florals.

I know absolutely nothing about this brand, but guessing they’re geared young. But also, only one of them sounds like a fruity floral to me…although never possible to tell just from the notes!

I WANT all 3 bottles, and don’t care how they smell!

Then I hope you will get them! I wish I had a better shot of the top of the caps…looks like they might be cool but hard to tell.

They do look way cute – I’m a sucker for things in sets of colors, but don’t know about the scents… They sound very young…

Oddly, my sex life NEVER includes rhubarb OR grapefruit. . . am I doing something wrong?

I was at the Mall of America a few years ago, and was able to stop into one of their stores. I absolutely went ga-ga in there! But the perfume – I think I’ll pass. I’m kind of surprised w/the notes (though if I sampled them, maybe I would be surprised?) because their clothes are really off-the-wall cool – young, yes, but I would wear some of it (if I had the dough as they’re kind of expensive)

Desigual is a Spanish clothing brand which mixes vibrant patterns and lots of energy. They are similar to what Custo Barcelona used to be at a much better price point. A more price accessible Etro might be a good description.

I’ve bought several of their shirts and am very interested in sniffing these because they look like fun – and probably cheap thrills. I hope they are in the NYC stores when I am up there for Elements.

Oh yes, you will find Desigual in NYC. I can’t confirm that you’ll find everything you’re looking for in each store, but I hope so. If not, I hope you will enjoy your trip. Please consider yourself already welcomed here.

Rhubarb, grapefruit, tuberose and vanilla – not adding up to sexy in my book. Faint nausea perhaps…Am I just getting old and grumpy? Wait – don’t answer that!

I immediately saw the bottles and thought that they were very visually-stimulating. They are definitely pretty and got my attention. Then I read the notes for each bottle and the descriptions made me automatically think that this line is for teenage girls. I think if these were sold at Victoria Secret “Pink” or Bath and Body Works, they would sell like hotcakes. I work at a school and would definitely not want to smell like the students. I would probably pass on this. And I would definitely be embarrassed to have a bottle of “Sex” in my bag and a student sees it and goes home and tells their parents.

There are 2 Desigual stores in mid-town Manhattan. Their clothes are very colorful and if I recall, quite affordable. It caters to the younger set (20s). The only thing I lusted over was their shopping tote but alas, I couldn’t justify buying anything just so I can get one of those bags.

The perfume bottles look cool and I may stop in one of the stores to check them out. The perfumes sound like they would be thin and chemically-sweet…no, just No.
