    Nice, and a sign of the revitalisation of the brand. Bears every resemblance to the recent heritage-based ads that Chanel has done for No 5, except at a slower pace, right down to the same voice-over artist, I’d guess.

    I did notice the remark that Jean Patou invented sportswear for women. I must look that up; Coco Chanel generally gets the credit for that … ?

      Yes, very much like the Chanel.

      It all depends on what you mean by sportswear, and where you read. Patou is widely credited with introducing designer clothes for actual sporting activities, and is said to have developed the first modern tennis skirt & the first knit bathing suit (although others credit that to Jantzen). He opened “Le Coin de Sport” in 1925, and like Chanel, was meanwhile making “more relaxed” everyday clothes for women and men. They were apparently huge rivals. She obviously won the “posterity” battle!
