John Varvatos Artisan Acqua ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 8 November 2013 12 Comments

John Varvatos Artisan Acqua advert

John Varvatos will launch Artisan Acqua, a new limited edition fragrance for men, in January. Artisan Acqua is a flanker to 2009's John Varvatos Artisan, and is described by Varvatos as a “lighter, beachy, summer kind of fragrance".

Artisan Acqua was developed by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux, who also did the original Artisan fragrance and the followup Artisan Black. The notes include tangelo, mandarin, paradisamide, galbanum, lentisque, angelica root, clary sage, lavender, coriander, toscanol, basil, geranium, palmarosa, jasmine, moss, patchouli and fir balsam.

John Varvatos Artisan Acqua will be available in 75 and 125 ml Eau de Toilette.

Galbanum & lentisque (mastic) you can find here:

Paradisamide (tropical fruit note) & toscanol (green anisic) are Givaudan molecules.

De nada! I need to start adding captive molecules to the glossary, but there are so darned many.

I got some toscanol from Perfumer’s Apprentice. It smells similar to tarragon oil.

Paradicimide sounds like “death by paradise”. lol Is that like too much of a good thing? 😉

I have always liked the Varvatos line. When will we see this in stores do you think?

They’re saying January 2014. Sometimes things are on counter early, sometimes they’re not!

I am so picky with men’s scents. Didn’t care for the JV line and not really excited about an aqua scent. Oh well, more for you guys!:). Is it me or does that guy look like Johnny Depp?

I really liked Artisan, but I’m not excited about an aquatic either.

He looks like ‘almost Johnny Depp’.
