L’Occitane Rose & Osmanthus ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 3 October 2013 11 Comments

L'Occitane Rose & Osmanthus

L’Occitane has launched Rose & Osmanthus, a new addition to their La Collection de Grasse series (see Jasmin & Bergamote, Magnolia & Mûre, Vanille & Narcisse, Thé Vert & Bigarade, Ambre & Santal).

Feel enchanted by the airy melody of Rose & Osmanthus Eau de Toilette, a tender union of glowing and fruity flowers from Grasse and China.

Fruity and floral, it opens with head notes of bergamot and rose leaf. Its heart combines centifolia rose from Grasse with osmanthus absolute from China. Finally, notes of white must, white iris and vanilla form the base of this fragrance.

Rose & Osmanthus was developed by house perfumer Karine Dubreuil.

L’Occitane Rose & Osmanthus is available in 75 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching bath & body products.

I’ve liked these more than I expected. Not enough to buy any of them for myself, but when I think of them in comparison to, say, what my high-school-aged, non-perfume-hound cousin is likely to pick out for herself, it makes me wish I’d jumped on that coffret!

Actually, the thing that interested me most the last time I was at L’Occitane was how they were displaying the fragrances– they’d soaked a little ceramic tablet, roughly the size of a quarter, in the fragrance. It was surprisingly appealing; I was sorry they wouldn’t sell them to me to put in a purse/dresser drawers/etc.! (Le Labo does sell something like this, I think, but at a price point that I find difficult to contemplate.)

I’d agree with that … I just think they’re overpriced for what they are. But still want to try the new ones!

Interesting, the Middle Eastern site still has Eau d’Iparie, which is one of my favorites from L’Occitane… sadly a couple months ago it disappeared from both the French and the U.S. websites, and when I wrote they told me it had been discontinued, so I am going to use what remains of my bottle sparingly. I wonder if it’s just older stock on this site that they haven’t sold yet? Or maybe they’ll continue to sell it in the Middle East? Given that the primary notes are frankincense and myrrh, maybe there is more of a market for it there. I do wish they would bring it back here though, I think it is one of the more distinctive feminine fragrances they have produced. Between this one, Tea for Two, and the original Omnia, it looks like I will have to find some new fall favorites in the future…

They do seem to carry different stock in different places. Who knows if it’s really discontinued…time will tell. Sorry you lost a favorite!

Funnily enough I was in my local l’Occitane (Aberdeen, Scotland) just last week, & had a sniff of this range; I think their prices are quite steep for what their products are – my husband was appalled at how expensive their shower gel was! I used to use some of their skincare products but these days I’m not prepared to pay what they charge. Having said all that, their sales are still worth a visit.

Agree, too spendy for what they are. But how was the Rose & Osmanthus?

I was a week too early to try it! & although I love the smell of rose, it doesn’t sit well on my skin (same goes for vanilla) so I wouldn’t have tested it myself.

I liked Jasmin and Bergamote enough to buy some – it turned out to be a great summer scent, and I’d wear it in spring or fall as well. I’ll try this when I next go in to the closest boutique. I’m addicted to their hand lotion…

This sounds like try worthy so I have this and the new amber to try. I agree the FB is spendy although if you’re lucky, sometimes the gift with purchase could include travel-sized perfumes. I’ll probably end up with soap in these new scents.
