Atlas by The Motley ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 August 2013 8 Comments

Atlas by The Motley

Men's grooming website The Motley has launched Atlas, their first fragrance:

Atlas evokes the spirit of the world traveler. The spicy, green notes pull together memories of places explored. Atlas Cedar from the mountains of Algeria, Oakmoss from the forests of North America, worn leather blended with bergamot from southern Italy, Amber Musk, Indian cardamom and cloves.

Each amber glass bottle is compounded and hand-poured in Los Angeles and each tin container is personalized to add an extra level of individuality.

The Motley Atlas is available in 30 ml Cologne, $45, and can be purchased directly from the website.

    I first thought of that band, Motley Crue, lol. I am not sure about amber musk? Does that mean mostly musk with a touch of amber? Don’t like the packaging either. Looks like medicine or aromatherapy drop bottles.

      The bottle reminds me of the old Kiehl’s Musk.

    Looks like they’re kind of following Le Labo’s schtick, with the hand-pouring and personalizing.

      Yes, and the store carries some Le Labo too.

    Back in university “motley” meant “deeply unattractive”, usually a person…

      Interesting, never heard the word used that way.

    The name may have something to do with Shakespeare’s 110th Sonnet…

    Alas, ’tis true I have gone here and there
    And made myself a motley to the view,
    Gored mine own thoughts, sold cheap what is most dear,
    Made old offences of affections new;
