Nice abs, part the gajillionth

Posted by Robin on 10 July 2013 15 Comments

Rugby player Nick Youngquest for Paco Rabanne Invictus. Nearly as good as the Versace Eros commercial from last year.

Below the jump, a 'portrait' of Youngquest, including bits of his ab routine.

My eyes! My eyes! That has to be the douchiest commercial I have vere seen. Versace’s Eros is Citizen Kane compared to this Chav wet dream.

The Versace Eros is the better ad, but I like this one too…it just needed to be a little more ridiculous to rival the Eros. The women draped in sheets are a nice touch though.

Wow. That *really is* an amazing ad. Arrogance personified! It’s that moment at the end, with six naked girls in the locker room, the look of smugness on his face, that really tips it over the edge for me!

Oh, and Robin, I originally clicked just to remark on your rather hilarious “part the gagillionth!” An outside observer might conclude that you’re tired of this sort of campaign! 😉

I will NEVER tire of fragrance ads that make me laugh. I’m awfully tired of the other kind. If fragrance ads are going to be stupid, at least be stupid in a funny way, please. I was already laughing, long since, when he went in the locker room and smirked, and that made me laugh harder. Thank you, Paco Rabanne.

It’s good you can keep your sense of humor about such things! Otherwise, a whole lot of cynicism would be in order!

Now that is SELLING it! I’m not sure who is the target audience, though. Young men 15-25? It is so hilariously over the top. I wonder what programs it would air alongside? Sports programs? Thanks for posting it. I’d never have admired the male pulchritude or had the giggle otherwise. Be well!

You know, I don’t know. I’m guessing a bit older than 1 Million? But not sure.

I prefer the Eros commercial to this, but this is just as over-the-top macho posing as the other! I do love such ridiculous eye-candy with my morning coffee, so THANKS for making my (boring) morning just a little bit better!

I think that it’s gonna be a succes…Diffusive fragrance and strong concept. It’s too much ok but they are the first brand to launch a sport fragrance without a lazy concept as “paco rabanne sport” (thinking about dior, boss, gucci…). It’s quite cheesy but afterall I think that the target will be hitten, it’s the fragrance of success and victory, and “being the number one “talk to every men on earth ^^

Robin, If they want to make a special version of the ad to target “teh gays” they just need to edit the virgins out and insert a shot of the other teammates in the locker room.Keep the rest of the ad the same… it is already so homoerotic its painful to watch. Hhehehehehe
