Penhaligon’s Vaara ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 July 2013 9 Comments

Penhaligon's Vaara

Penhaligon’s will launch Vaara, a new fragrance, next week:

The story behind the perfume is unlike any other. The fragrance started as a private commission for His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh II, who wanted to commemorate the birth of his granddaughter, Vaara. It was created by [perfumer] Bertrand Duchaufour who travelled all over India in search of the perfect ingredients. Exploring palaces, exotic gardens, historic forts, and bustling city markets, he managed to create a scent fit for royalty.

The notes include coriander, carrot seeds, saffron, quince, rose, freesia, magnolia, peony, iris, honey, white musk, cedarwood, sandalwood, benzoin and tonka bean.

Penhaligon's Vaara will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

The box is gorgeous. And since there are iris honey and carrot seeds listed, this might be interesting – even if Blue Bell chocked me as a cheap fabric softner smell.

I really want a good saffron scent I love them. SMN has one I’m told and I’d love to know if anyone has smelled it. SMN= Santa Maria Novella.

Another pink perfume — I am wondering if this is a baby’s scent? The notes seem to be on the youngish side, but not your usual baby powder scent?

While that itinerary sounds amazing, I doubt Mr. Duchaufour had time to complete any of it! Lordy, that man is busy.

Snark aside, this sounds pretty fantastic.
