Posted by Robin on 14 June 2013 20 Comments

Paco Rabanne Invictus

Paco Rabanne will launch Invictus, a new "fresh and sporty" fragrance for men, in July.

Notes for the woody aquatic include grapefruit, marine accord, bay leaf, jasmine, hedione, guaiac wood, patchouli, oak moss and ambergris.

Paco Rabanne Invictus will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products.

It is tacky, remember 1million, this one would fit perfectly just by its side, Davidoff Champion and the other with the microphone bottle. lol
I was kind of excited reading the notes and then I read patchouli, I recalled marine accord, and no… just no.

I can’t decide about the bottle. Will have to see in person.

I can’t decide either! Part of me thinks it’s risible and vulgar, and part of me thinks it’s some sort of genius — marketing genius, probably.

I don’t believe it will be anything but a modern dime-a-dozen sport fragrance, but if you ignore the marine part, it actually sounds promising, especially if they are not kidding about the oakmoss (I have my doubts).

Supposed to be a trophy, but looks more like an Urn to me.

I burst out laughing when I read “urn”. Yes, there are tacky bottles out there that miss the mark trying to be beautiful, like the one by Selena Gomez, but this one is just mindlessly tacky. I was quite intrigued at the notes, reading jasmine in a men’s fragrance, but when I saw the bottle…bugs bunny came to mind; “zzzheeeesshh!!”

I hope whomever finalized the execution of the bottle or designed it, stays away from further developing bottle designs. I would never sport this bottle on my dresser. I would have to somehow crack this bottle open and pour it in another atomizer, just so I wouldn’t look at it. This should win a “what were they thinking” award if it existed.

Worse – it’s an urn that is such a challenge to carry, it makes his shorts fall down. Saw the advert today and couldn’t stop laughing. They start near the natural waist, then seem to fall down an inch in every shot until half way though the ad – I suppose only the threat of censorship halted the descent.

Cool! The Triwizard Cup has it’s own fragrance!

(I don’t know what’s sadder, the fact that it really does look like the Triwizard Cup from the Harry Potter series or that I even thought to make that reference in the first place…)

“It matters not how straight the gate
Or charged with punishment the scroll
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul.”

How many of us had to memorize “Invictus”?

The bottle is an AMPHORA from ANCIENT GREEK/ROMAN times carrying, transporting liquids. Personally, I like it as I do the 1 MILLION bottle as well.

The bottle is an AMPHORA from ANCIENT GREEK/ROMAN times. Amphoras were used to carry liquids or for storage; personally I like the bottle as I do the 1 MILLION bottle too, both bottles are different and cool. It would be boring if all bottles looked the same, variety is the spice of life!

They’ve been going pretty literal on the bottle designs lately, huh?
