The Fragrance Foundation has announced the winners of the 2013 Fragrance Foundation Awards, formerly known as the Fifi Awards. And the winners are...

Women’s Luxury* ~ Balenciaga Florabotanica

Men’s Luxury ~ Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa Oud

Women's Prestige* ~ Marc Jacobs Dot

Men's Prestige ~ Tom Ford Noir

The "fragrance celebrity of the year" was Taylor Swift. Media campaign awards went to Dolce & Gabbana The One Sport for Men and Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme; packaging awards went to Montblanc Legend and Balenciaga Florabotanica. A Fragrance Hall of Fame Award went to Elizabeth Arden Red Door. A Lifetime Achievement Award went to perfumer Alberto Morillas.

Can’t get behind any of these except for TF Noir. They’re not even trying anymore.

I’ll vote for the Alberto Morillas award, & Florabotanica did deserve a packaging award. The rest is the usual — although not sure I even tried Intensa Oud, maybe it’s wonderful.

Don’t care for any of the winners. Oh well.

Don’t love her fragrances, but YAY Taylor! Haha! : )

Oh and congrats to Florabotanica for the packaging win, and not so much for the fragrance win. Haha! : )

Dot and Noir? Blah. I haven’t tried those luxury scents though.

I think Florabotanica & Dot may turn out to be the big winners this year…have to do a count.

How disappointing. Especially the women section – as far as I’m concerned both winners are mass market not prestige or luxury.

These awards could be more specific – while the men’s fragrances are ok, Balenciaga and Dot are unoriginal crowd pleasers. No problem with an award for packaging, but the content is another matter.

D&G had a lovely campaign, pity the same can’t be said about the fragrance.

How come niche fragrances don’t seem to be wining ever? (if they did, mea culpa, i don’t recall that happening)

How about an award for the fragrance itself, given by the noses, purely based on the quality of the product and irrelevant of how many bottles were made or sold?

The mass vs. prestige vs. luxury is purely on the type & number of stores where something is sold — it isn’t a subjective category.

They used to have a niche category, but they got rid of it when they added the indie awards:

And they do have a category just for the “juice” — the Perfume Extraordinaire award. I don’t yet know who won that this year; last year it was Bond 9 New York Oud.
