Canadian Fragrance Awards ~ 2013 winners

Posted by Robin on 16 May 2013 11 Comments

The 8th annual Canadian Fragrance Awards ceremony, sponsored by Rogers Media/Cosmetics Magazine, were held in late April. And the winners are:

Best niche launch: Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo*

Best luxe launch women’s: Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay

Best luxe launch men's: Lalique Hommage À L’Homme

Best limited launch women’s: Chanel Coco Noir

Best limited launch men’s: Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb

Best full-market launch women’s prestige: Lancôme La Vie Est Belle

Best full-market launch men’s prestige: Calvin Klein Encounter

Judge’s choice: Balenciaga Floribotanica

(via thewhaleandtherose, #CanFragAwards at Twitter)

*I'm not sure if this was for a particular fragrance in the range, or the whole series. As near as I can tell there weren't any new fragrances from the brand in 2012.

There are! But boy, they really don’t go out of their way to advertise their existence. They don’t even have the winners listed on their own website.

I”m in Canada too and didn’t know about the awards. A little embarrassing, really. Looks like they weren’t paying attention at all when they picked the winners. Acqua di Parma Blu? And that awful Lancome???

About the same sort of picks as every other country, so nothing to be ashamed of, LOL…

Add me to the Canadians who didn’t know that these awards even existed! and la vie est belle? seriously? and wow, floribotanica! You’d think the judges were twelve years old. Not that there’s anything wrong with liking either of these fragrances (I’m a girl who likes the 2008 Chloe, you know) …but award-worthy?

      Florabotanica particularly cracked me up.

Another Canadian chiming in…. uck, some cringe-worthy winners. And I had no idea this even existed.

Seriously, they’re not better or worse than who wins anywhere! Take a look at the Fifi finalists.

That Lancome is so gross it make me angry. Too sweet and eck. Lancome went down hill. I hope that one goes in and out like other lancomes. gross.

I’ll admit I’m enjoying this post just because it’s brought out my fellow Canadians. 🙂
