Lavender remains in the family DNA

Posted by Robin on 27 March 2013 2 Comments

Perfumer Francis Kurkdjian answers questions — lots of questions, some technical, some personal, some just inane — about the new Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Male; below the jump, Jean Paul weighs in. Both films are apparently designed to be cut and shown in shorter segments, so the opening repeats several times.

(And if you missed it, find behind the scenes of the photo shoot here.)

Thank you, interesting videos – especially the Francis Kurkdjian interview.
I loved the info scattered there: how mint in the perfumer’s palette is more floral than the RL herb, the domino effect of the opening notes, the fruity facets of thuja (I’ve always thought so!)…
On the other hand the THIS or THAT questions at the end were very stupid, and the “jeu de mots” was completely lost in translation. While JPG seemed amused by the questions, FK’s answers felt strained – he answerd “both” at all questions, very very diplomatic!
    And I can’t blame him!

Agree — his answers about the structure & notes were very interesting, the rest, ack, I felt for him! He did his best.
