A heap of cheap perfume

Posted by Robin on 29 January 2013 10 Comments

The four cat burglars ripped holes through the roof and lowered themselves into the Tamarac perfume store Hollywood movie-style, via ropes, harnesses and an array of burglary tools. They methodically tried to disable the alarm and surveillance system and even ripped out the business' Internet wiring before targeting loot that even the store's owner called a heap of "cheap perfume."

If I was one of those thieves, I’d think twice about giving one of those bottles as a Valentine’s day gift. The lover might guess that he/she was being fobbed off with hot merchantise rather than a “real gift” and know that the stuff was something”even the stores owner called ‘cheap perfume.'”

P.S. I just read the article, the perfume bottles broke during a police chase, and suspects were arrested as they attempted their getaways. One of the members of the police team was a canine who bit one of the suspects.
Maybe the dog was upset at having to smell all that cheap perfume.

Could these guys be a bunch of crazy perfumistos? Or maybe it shows how desperate men can be about finding the perfect gift for Valentines’s Day!

I suspect that the thieves thought these could be re-sold. Perhaps they already had a buyer who sold heavily discounted perfumes on the web, street, or at a local store.

That would be my guess too.

Am i the only one who felt the most tragic part of this story was “ended with a police chase…and a trail of shattered perfume bottles along the way?”. Of course then I got to the end where the owner said it was “cheap perfume” and smiled at the most glorious vision: A sea of broken glass with the names Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and JLo, sunken in pink liquid that will soon evaporate out of existence.

Why oh why do they not tell what the perfumes were?? Is it possible the theives are one of our own? The fragrance blog underworld criminals? That would read more like : Seven women from various parts of the world were found red handed in the Paris Guerlain flagship stuffing bottles into their brassieres and handbags. When pushed, the women admitted to being a part of a ring of ‘swappers’, a perfumes addicts version of a back alley trading post. When one tried to escape up the chandelier, a bottle of Shalimar Initial was dropped, to the relief of the rest of the group that it was not the original.
