Sonoma Scent Studio Cocoa Sandalwood & Rose Volupte ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 25 January 2013 19 Comments

Sonoma Scent Studio perfume bottle

Indie line Sonoma Scent Studio has launched Cocoa Sandalwood, the first in a new range of all natural fragrances. Upcoming natural fragrances include Spiced Citrus Vetiver and Amber Incense. Also new from the brand is Rose Volupté, which replaces Vintage Rose.

Cocoa Sandalwood ~

This all-natural perfume is a gourmand for lovers of natural sandalwood. A luscious cocoa absolute melds with New Caledonia sandalwood absolute, spices, and a lactonic natural peach note. Vanilla and a subtle hint of coffee make the chocolate richer, while woodsy cedar and musky ambrette seed reinforce and complement the sandalwood. For women and men.

Additional notes include ginger, cinnamon, clove and rose.

Rose Volupté ~ "Rose Volupté is a luxurious plumy rose with a rich base of woods, amber, spices, and labdanum. A warm and long lasting ambery rose."

Additional notes include sandalwood, cedar, vetiver, heliotrope, clove, cinnamon, oakmoss and aldehydes.

Sonoma Scent Studio Cocoa Sandalwood and Rose Volupté are available in 5, 17  and 34 ml.

Can anyone comment on how Vintage Rose and Rose Volupte might compare? The notes seem similar.

I really need to finally buck up and order some SSS samples.

Rose Volupte is a reformulated Vintage Rose under a new name. Laurie had to replace labdanum of Rose Volupte and she decided to recreate the fragrance and give it a new sould with a new name.

I’m looking forward to try Cocoa Sandalwood and Spiced Citrus Vetiver, I spoke with Laurie via Twitter few days ago and she said she’ll send me a sample.

Breathesgelatin: The main difference to my nose is the aldehydes. Also, I think Volupte is a tad rosier, a little less wine/plum, and with a tad less amber/labdanum. Beautiful though. Hope this helps.

Ahhh naturals, my best frenemy. Smell so good but cost so much. A few years ago i sampled this line and ended up with 2 bottles, so does my wallet want me to catch up on her latest offerings? haha.

The prices for CS are higher than her norm, but not as much higher as in some brands…the 5 ml is $25, 17 ml is $64.

I’ve sampled both the cocoa/sandalwood and the citrus/vetiver – they are both exquisite, FB worthy for me, and surprisingly long-lasting for naturals (I got 6 to 8 hours). I think that’s because they both rely on some gorgeous base notes.

I forgot to say also that the CV has a nice ginger note with the citrus and then an osmanthus heart. Lovely combination.

Cocoa Sandalwood is calling out to me. I’ve had great success with this line, so my credit card is probably going to get a workout.

I have yet to smell a scent in this line that I didn’t at least like and quite a few so far have been loves. Needless to say I can’t wait to try CS.

To my delight, Laurie included a complimentary sample of Cocoa Sandalwood in my sample order a couple of weeks ago. Folks, you’re going to love it!

I contacted the line last year as I was going to Sonoma and thought I would stop at a store and smell them. At that time there was not place, just by mail. Has anyone found a store in the SF bay area that has them?

These sound lovely! I’ll wait until the other 2 are available before placing an order.
