Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess 2013 ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 22 January 2013 15 Comments

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess fragrance, 2013 version

Estee Lauder will launch a new version of Bronze Goddess, the yearly limited edition variation on their summer fragrance, Bronze Goddess. Look for it in March.

The limited-edition fragrance aims to encapsulate the beauty, sensation and enjoyment of a sun-drenched beach, according to the brand. Key ingredients include amber, mandarin, bergamot and lemon, offset by a blend of milky florals.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess will be available in 100 ml Eau Fraiche.

Is it just a new bottle or do they actually tinker with the formula every year?

Some years they have tinkered with it, but then they usually give it a new name — Bronze Goddess Capri, Bronze Goddess Soleil, and I think some of those years they also release the original. So I’m assuming this is the original, and they’re not doing a new one this year.

In my experience, they re-release the “original” Bronze Goddess every year. The past two years (2011 and 2012) there has been an accompanying Bronze Goddess flanker. In 2011 it was Bronze Goddess Soleil and in 2012 it was Bronze Goddess Capri. But they’ve always had the original Bronze Goddess beside them.

The packaging for this 2013 version is very different than either the Bronze Goddess or its flankers Capri and Soleil. I guess we’ll see, I wonder if it’s really the original this time.

I have the original Tom Ford Azuree Soleil and bought my sister the post-Tom Bronze Goddess as she liked mine, and they’re almost identical (BG the teensiest bit ‘warmer’ if anything). The Capri flanker though smelled totally different and quite nasty by comparison when I tried it at the shop. So I wonder why a new makeover so soon if it is the original? (orig BG that is..) and I hope it is the same juice anyway it’s such a fun summer holiday scent! 🙂

I agree- I actively disliked Capri. I think it had some of those ubiquitous “cashmere woods” going on and it was really bad on me.

The 2011 flanker, Soleil, was fine but very forgettable, and had poor lasting power on my skin – basically a traditional cologne.

But in both 2012 and 2011 the “original” Bronze Goddess was available alongside the flankers. (I say “original” because as we know, Bronze Goddess was a takeoff/variation/near-dupe of Azuree Soleil to begin with.)

I didn’t like last year’s BG flanker either. Fakey citrus, boring base.

They don’t keep the original on the market all year — it’s part of the sales strategy.

I would like it if it didn’t smell of coconut. The one I tested a while ago did, and that put me off. Is there one that doesn’t?

Bronze Goddess Capri didn’t have coconut, but that one is gone now.

Finnally we can have this wonderful smell back! Me and my husband just love the original of this perfume. By the moment I only have the oil, wich everybody asks about whenever I am wearing it. I have smelled also the capri or soleil versions but they haven’t evoke me the willing to buy. Too common scents. Can wait to have this back again.

I like the contrast between the gold bottle and the printed packaging.

I’m intrigued. I did have one of them but it was really heavy on the patchouli, which to me always smells like wet wood, not luvin it. Gave it away. But willing to try the new one. Hopefully they lose the patch!

I have heard this new one is almost identical Azuree Soleil. The one Tom Ford created for Estee Lauder back in 2007. Please let me know if anyone has tried it and what you think. I have only tried this version 2013. It’s not getting to much love on the Estee Lauder web site.
