Geo F Trumper shaving cream ~ scented body product review

Posted by Angela on 8 October 2012 17 Comments

Geo F Trumper shaving cream

Sometimes I thirst for luxury. I want a Corot in a gilt frame hanging next to my daybed where I can lift my eyes from a novel and stare at it. I want a mid-century arm chair upholstered in grass-green silk velvet at my desk. I want all my underwear replaced with the kind that doesn’t come three to a pack. Like most people, my budget isn’t up to major purchases these days, so when the itch for luxury needs scratched, I turn to peaches and speckled farm eggs. And George F. Trumper shaving cream.

I first heard of George F. Trumper — on labels as Geo F Trumper — in an article about Pauline de Rothschild, who favored Trumper’s Extract of Limes cologne.1 Trumper, a British company, also sells shaving supplies and even offers one-on-one shaving lessons. When I saw tubes of Trumper shaving cream lined up at a local perfume boutique, I bought the lime. Over the years I’ve also tried rose, violet, and sandalwood…

Up for grabs: The 7 Virtues Middle East Peace + Make Perfume, Not War shirt

Posted by Robin on 8 October 2012 50 Comments — Comments are closed

Make Perfume, Not War shirt

What is it: A 50 ml bottle of The 7 Virtues Middle East Peace, used for testing only (it is 99% full), plus a t shirt with “Make Perfume Not War” on the back and a rose petal peace sign on the front (see image here). It is a size L, but I usually wear a S or M and it looks like it would fit me fine.

How do I get it: For a chance to win, leave a comment on the website telling me that you live in the US. Also, please tell me about your favorite scent from The 7 Virtues, if you’ve smelled any of them. Otherwise, tell me about the last fragrance you tried and what you thought of it.

Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment…

The Monday Mail ~ help Gabby find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 8 October 2012 38 Comments

PostboxPostbox

This week we’re helping Gabby, who wants to find a deep, good quality but not too expensive evening fragrance — something unusual but comfortable. Here is what we know about Gabby:

She’s in her early 20s, and is from and currently lives in New Orleans.

Gabby is a legal assistant and is applying for MFA programs in creative writing. She double majored in philosophy and comparative literature with a minor in math, and her favorite book of all time is War and Peace. She also tutors 6th-8th graders in English, and finds that more fulfilling than her current job.

She says her personal style is eclectic but feminine: dresses with interesting prints paired with vintage lace-up ankle boots. Like many young people, she’s always short of cash, so she cooks for herself and shops at thrift stores.

She loves dancing, waterskiing, canoeing, biking, sneaking into hotel pools, and sometimes just loafing around with a good book and some decent coffee.

Gabby tends towards perfumes that are unisex but lean a bit towards the feminine side. Her absolute favorite smell is sweet olive, aka osmanthus…
